Why is there a strange smell in my cabin and kinda outside the car after i use vtec? I barely use vtec, but today i felt like it, so I shifted at 7.5k in first, then at like 6.5 in second- that was pretty much it lol. Then i drove for like another 4 mins, pulled into my driveway, got out. And this odd, kinda burnt/egg smell was lingering around the car. I opened the bonnet a tiny bit (only a bit coz it was raining) to smell it; but it smelt fine. The smell was coming through the air con vents in the cabin i think... Or from under the car? i dunno i didnt really open the bonnet fully so it coulda been coming from there also..?

Any clues?

sometimes cars will smell like that if you hammer them when they're not warmed up. how long were you runnin the car before you decided to plant it???

It was pretty warm, i'd been driving it for atleast 15mins, shifting at 3, somtimes 4. Normal driving. I warmed up to the 7.5k shift with like a 6k, 1st gear shift just before it too. Then i shifted at like 7.5- nearly 8k, from the next traffic light

My bro's car has an oil temp meter, and it takes him like 7 mins to get it to 90 degrees, which is considered warm. And he shifts at 2k..

Check your CV Boots aswell. i have a friend, that has an F'd up CV Boot, and it smells exactly like rotten EGGS even if he doesnt VTEC it.sometimes at hte traffic lights, we can smell it from inside the car, when the windows are down.. goodluck finding your problem

If it came through your air conditioning, check that your Air Conditioning system isn't leaking.

Air Con fluid stinks!
