Hi, I am new to this site, so if this topic has been posted a million times before, please excuse me!
I am looking at some performance mods for my EG civic Si which currently features the ZC-G D16A8 motor. I want around 14sec performance and I have a budget of around 7g. I wanted to know what would be the easiest way to do this, i.e. turbocharge current engine, VTEC conversion etc.
The current motor is ok and has done 150k's. I was considering a H22A conversion, but I have since learnt, for a proper reliable install I looking at more like 10K! and I think a B16A conv would not be worth the money considering the power increase, however if it could be modded all up for 7g and do low 14's i'd be happy!. I will be getting all work done at a workshop cause I am not mechanically minded. I live in Brisbane and I would like to keep the car reliable since its a daily driver.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks.
turbocharging would be your best bang for buck.
i'll let the others fill the rest in.... :)

Find tinkerbell on these forums, he'd do the full job at a good price... I think he has the whole kit laying around

my mates have gone Turbo and they are very happy with the results... Theres a lot out there and with the aussy dollar the way it is US kits are dropping in price. Especially if you want drag turbo is the best way i would imagine and Turbo engines are a lot of fun :P
Well at these dynos lately, Ive seen the b16as do impressive results compared to the b18c's.
I was thinking of getting a b18c myself, but for a few grand more and not much more power output, i think ill get a b16a better.
Or if you even more serious, get a b20b (correct me if im wrong) froma cr-v and use a b16a head.

b16a with a bit of work should be sufficient for the 14+ mark...

$7g for 1.5 seconds off your 1/4 DOES NOT equal to GOOD value .
I can take my lil Si down to the drag and do this and that...and get a similar number WITHOUT spending anyway near 1/10th of your budget.(interior strip etc etc) But - so what matey ? Thats only a number.
Being a new-comer to our field...i would strongly suggest tuning yourself into the HANDLING experience that is HONDA. Hondas where never meant to have HP or TORQUE you know ;)
Take advantage of our tiny frames and learn how to control your car to its best ability , not from "peak power" (looks at VEETEEK boys) .
Spend that $7gs (even no-where near) on a few driving courses , suspension upgrade , swaybar etc and make your car fun to drive and NOT TO DESTROY in a straight line.
:)
The wise scorpio has spoken ....
how deep do u want to break 14 second?
mid 14's? low 14's?
i got 93 civic si -hatch
did 15.1 sec recently
mods : e/h/i , lighten flywheel , stock clutch , re chipped ecu , piggyback Unichip tune by ART melb. stripped interior.
Dunlop D01j 205/50 semi's on 15 inch
with my new clutch , i will break 14's easy
with cams , valve spring , retainer and some consistent driving skills >> mid 14's to low 14's should be easy
