Hey guys ive never changed the power steering belt (there was a mix up when the other belts were replaced) but its still working fine at 250,000km.

My question is, if it snaps, will I simply lose power steering ability and revert to mechanical steering? Or is there a danger of the car steering by itself or something (lose control) if it snaps while driving at high speed?

I often take the power steering belt off my EK4 Civic to drive on the track. The steering will get a lot heavier but on the track you don't feel it much.

I see, so it will just lose power steering.

But if it snaps while driving at high speed, is there any danger of losing control of the car?

Steering will just get heavier and thats about it (unless the snapped belt / bits of it go elsewhere).
