View Full Version : how to remove rust on the slotted rotor

all my car's front part of slotted rotor are rusted , it looks ugly , when you stand beside the car and look the mags ,you can see new wheels with yellowish rusted slotted rotor. So can anyone tell me how to get rid of them ,thank u

Well if the whole rotor is rusty you need to machine it but if where the pad rubs you're fine. To keep the rust off I tape off the pad section and the spray the rest, center part, with high temp paint. Has to be high temp as the rotors get hot! Then pull the tape off. Then you must let dry for 2-3 hours and clean the pad section with brake cleaner to get oils and debris off.

You might wanna use some 'rust treatment and primer' before painting it though. Otherwise the rust may grow and eventually dislodge the paint.
