Hey peeps.

Just installed a panel air filter from K and N. Bought it from Rare Spares in Homebush (Who were of great help and alot cheaper than its competitors!) for $100. Its been the best $100 ive spent on her! :D

The car rev's alot smoother now, sounds sweet at the top end (nice woosh noise) and is ment to give you 10% better fuel mileage! Plus they are totally re-usable and can last up to 160,000km.They also give you a free K & N sticker which will soon grace my airfilter box!

So all in all if your looking to save some money over the long run, want to improve how your car revs and sounds buy one, you wont be upset!

Is it a big difference? My panel filter has been sitting in my boot (and now in my room) for 1 year. Is it worth putting in? Otherwise I'll sell mine off.

Can I ask which is better, a K&N panel or POD? I'm looking at getting either one of the two but am unsure.

So you guys just drop in a panel air filter in, instead of the OEM one? sorry this might be a pretty noob question but can the OEM dc2 filter be replaced by a panel filter?
would you have to make any alterations / modifications to the box?

I'm quite happy with my panel filter... works well I think. That being said, my engine could just have become more run-in as opposed to the filter doing anything.

Why would you want to replace the DC2's filter with a panel one instead? K&N also sells replacement filters for the DC2.

Yes it's just like when you replace the OEM filter when it's due to be changed. You don't have to modify anything.

I basically did a DIY comptech box, took out the resonator and mad a pipe down from the air box.
Then i replaced the panel with a K&N panel.

Interestingly, the K&N panel feels more restrictive than the standard paper filter with the intake mod. Its also quieter than the standard one.

Im thinking this is due to the standard one being a dry filter and the K&N has oil.

Anyone else experienced this?

Are these K&N panel filters actually worth it? i.e will my 100 bucks see any improvement in performance?

A LOT more noticable if you do this to a SPARE lower box assembly.... the intake whole is small and shit.

atm mines in the stock airbox and stock intake arm

any ideas on sound difference / heat if i replace the arm with an aluminum and make a aluminum box for it to sit in, and feed a pipe, like CAI, to the box??
