Hi there everyone,

I have been told that this is a popular fault in the prelude series. I drive a 1998 Prelude VTIR and one night when i was driving home from work the "SRS" light popped up and now it is constantly on and will not disappear.

Does anyone know how to reset this feature as i already tried bridging wires into that little yellow connection and also i have unplugged the battery for 10 mins and then tried but it is still there.

If anybody has had this problem and knows how to fix it. Please send me an email s3071187@student.rmit.edu.au thanks guys. Im just curious to see if i can fix the problem myself first because i have been quoted $150 to fix it which i think is a lot when it could be spent more wisely.

Cheers Guys... :honda:

before you reset the SRS ecu its best to read the code from it to help you understand what the problem is

after you plug the short connector on the MES ( yellow conector ) turn the IGN on to pos II

record the flashes of the SRS light
long pulses = main code
short pulses = sub code

so 3 long ( 1 sec ) and two short ( .3 sec ) is code 32

then erace the ECU by
- turning off the ignition
- plug the short connector to the MES yellow connector
- turn the ignition on to pos II
- the SRS light comes on for 6 sec then goes out,
- remove the SCS from the MES with in 4 sec
- the SRS ligt comes on again
- reconect the SCS to the MES with in 4 seconds
- the SRS light will go off again
- remove the SCS from the MES with in 4 seconds

- the SRS light will blink two times to indicate the ECU has been reset

- turn the ignition off and wait 10 sec before turning it back on

- turn the IGN back on to POS II and the SRS light should come on for 6 seconds and then go out.
