CXI & GLI DASH

Has anyone changed thier dash from a CXI model
to a GLI

The whole dash or just the cluster?

As far as I know, the dash itself is exactly the same.

Done before, straight plug in and the tacho works.

since changing cluster.. why not get the ctr ones? it should work as well wouldnt it?

The original poster needs to make the distinction between changing the "dash" and/or the "cluster".

It'd be the cluster for sure

cluster, atleast redline will be right for the corresponding engine..

if you get CTR, u'll have a false redline, and it'll look funny :p

wat i mean was reaplacing the part that containts the speedo, petrol, engine temp gauges.. the cluster?

A tacho is a must and i wanted to swap the cxi cluster (with no tachO) with a gli dash...

Am i right or wrong in saying that for EK the cxi and GLI the only differnce in the interoir is the differnt cluster?? (tacho..)

The engine D16Y4 are the same and the 'power' lol are the sme as well

Yep, there are a few differences including power windows/mirrors, colour coding bumpers etc (do a search and you should find it).


CTR = Civic type r

mrwillz - are you sure that it isnt a cxi? I am pretty sure that all gli's had power windows.

Have you had the car since new? Seems a bit odd as all GLI's Ive seen have a tacho in them.

I was under the same impression, but maybe it was a special order or has been converted or it was just an option?

Ah, thats different I think. I dont think that all gli civics had power mirrors.

All gli's have power options. CXi replaced the Breeze model (eg3) which was rock bottom of the civic range back in 1992.

A comparitive model lineup of 1992 vs 1996 onwards

Breeze = CXi
GL = GLi
GLi = GLi
VTi = VTi
Si = None
VTiR = SiR
