Try redbook.com.au for pricing .

They are quite good little cars for what they are. You just need to remember that they were not built as sports cars.

Petrol usage is pretty good - although the tanks are not that big.
You shouldnt have a problem with head room. The roof line is pretty high and seats have a fair amount of adjustment .

Might look at an engine swap down the track?

While the d16y4 doesnt have a huge amount of power it does alright especially if you dont have a full car load.

not yet. just talking to dad tr ying to convince him to come look( he is a mechanic)

he is just whinging the price is to high for a 99. and the paint colour is to hard to touch up becuse everyone ruins other peoples cars blahblah

end of the day its my money.

the price is high for a 99..but u pay for wat u get (a reasonably new, less than average kms). so its pretty good. :)

u didnt mentioned if its a hatch or sedan..but champagne colour..im guessing it'd b a 4dr sedan?

sedans are more expensive than hatch.

nugget666
25-02-2006, 01:37 PM
yeah its a sedan.

yeah might be bale to knock them down a bit by saying we dont want the warrenty. dad reckons they knock of about 500 or so.

simbadda54
25-02-2006, 02:14 PM
i paid 9500 for my 99 EK1 hatch but it had heaps more k's on the clock

ok so i went back to look with my dad

the boot seems out of alignment. its lower on the right had side.

on the rear window the rubber seal seems lifted a bit.

and on when you open the boot one side is a nice mould. then the other seems like it has had filler put in it>

would that be from rust proofing or?

there is no sign of accident on the log books/paper work.

have u considered the cash upfront approach ?

nugget666
25-02-2006, 04:08 PM
carrying around 13k of cash wouldnt really be a fun thing to do.

i would be constantly checking its all there lol

I judge cars by the k's. Not by the year. 42,000 is like a 2-3 year old car (circa 2003). I dont think the price is too high. If its been serviced properly with full logs

a 200k km car can run as well or even better and can be in better condition than a 40000km car. Depends on how well its been looked after.

nugget666
25-02-2006, 05:17 PM
it has been serviced on the months no on the k's

i tend to slightly disagree as all the engine internals are wearing down and will need replacing and also alot of other things ie breaks rotors fluids bushes mounts shocks ect -these wear even with the most modest of drivers and will need replacing eventually

It will drive fine. Its done 42,000. Its just up to u if u want it or not. Its not gonna fly down the street or anything. But it will last u a long time if u look after it well, considering its only done 42k

nugget666
26-02-2006, 06:15 PM
yeah i dont expect it to fly around.

I want it as a nice looking cruiser.

My '00 Civic is a bee's knee off 42,000... Personally the honda will always be a good buy no matter the kms as long as the servicing has been done. Also check the logbook to see if the timing belt has been done, if its been serviced by the months then it should have been done by now.... On the colour, nothing wrong with it, although I bet you it belonged to an older person which is probably a good thing for you mecanically..

nugget666
26-02-2006, 08:28 PM
yeah it did.

belonged to a older couple who traded it in on a new euro.

Dads a mechanic so he will know what to look for tmororw lol
plus he gets to take it to his work.

Just looking around, the dealer price for your car seems quite good comparing to the others available for 3 times the number of kms.

Old people like gold, must be a baby boomer thing, haha, even my dad wanted a Gold accord but he didn't like the interior colour they were offering... I bet 90% of gold cars belong to people over 50...
