View Full Version : Can stock radio unit input a amp?

I have purchased a amp, and thinking to connect to my car, but someone told me the stock unit cannot connect it? is it true? anyone can teach me :(

You can connect it, but you have to get another unit to go between the stock unit and amp. If I remember correctly, its called a Line Output Converter LOC. So what that does is converts the standard wires into RCAs which can then be plugged into the amp and then speakers from the amp running standard speaker cable. A single unit will cost around $20 approx...i was shopping for one recently and a shop had one which had 6 channels. so Front + rear + sub capable ($115!!!!!). If tuning sound, then a stock unit wont be much help to u.

Some amps have high inputs as well as RCAs (low) so the convertor may not be necessary. Using RCAs is far preferable but not an option if adament about staying with the stock made in mainland China non-MP3 head unit.

A nice 50Wx4 MP3 capable name brand head unit with RCAs is only around $200 and offers far better controls and sound quality.

You can directly connect ur stock headunit to an amp... ive done with with my carwith a 4chan & mono Block n i dun have to turn my dvd player on to use it either

i've got a RCA convert to sell..
i've had it on my car for a month. then i just changed the head unit.

from the picture, u can see the audio cables on one end, and comming out from the other end is the RCA where u can connect ur amplifer.
