getting some poor throttle response and i tested my tps voltages.

0.5v when closed - thats fine

only 2.5v when fully open - how do i adjust it to be 4.5v?

Don't stuff around with TPS. It can be done, but will not ever be as reliable as the factory set and sealed position. It's why they are sealed - to be tamper proof. For all the messing around you do, you could simply buy a cheap second hand throttle body with a sealed TPS on it and bolt it up drive away with peace of mind.

For me it was 50 bucks for an imported EF9 TB and 20 min fitting.

It's easy to calibrate the tps. Its range is 0 volts to 4.5 volts, 0 being closed and 4.5 being full wide open. If the car runs but the idle is a little high it's most likely not the tps. If you are throwing a tps code then hook up a multimeter to it and test it. You can also set it if you know everything, and I mean everything, else is in perfect working order by having the car running, warmed up, and ready to go. Loosen the bolts holding it on. Not too lose just enough to move it. Rotate it in either direction until the rpm (Voltage) you want is achieved. If you have a scan tool that can monitor the voltage while you do this it helps a lot.

In my car if I rotate it clockwise, looking at it, the ecu thinks it’s closing. Counter clockwise is the throttle opening. I would think it’s the same for all the Hondas but I haven’t seen them all and can’t be 100% sure. I am however 99.9% sure.

Try here (http://dodgeram.org/tech/transmission/automatic/TPS_adjust.htm). It's not a Honda but it gives you an idea.

well i'm getting a 2.5v when the throttle is fully open.

I assume it needs calibrating?

Ya think?!! LOL JK!! Yes it does. If you don't want to do it hit up a repair center with a Snap-On scan tool or M.O.T.I.S. scan tool. That's what I use here and I can tune a car off that in 30 min.

should be 0.5v at closed throttle not 0v

i wont need one of those tools will i?

i plan to loosen the bolts for the tps, adjust it left and right until it shows 4.5v at WOT and tighten it down at that position.

As per your previous link

you not need a scan tool
a DMM will do

should be 0.5v at closed throttle not 0v

I said it goes from 0-4.5v meaning it can read 0v. Not that it is set there.

Scan tools and DMMs? It's just a simple pot. 5V on one side, ground on the other and
the wiper going to D11 OBD1. At a nominal 800rpm idle adjust TPS till you get 0.45V
on this pin. If you don't get 4.5V at WOT then you're TPS is not located on the throttle
spindle correctly or you haven't got 5V/ground.. or it's your meter! The idle value is more important than WOT.

it wont matter if the engine is running or not?

idle doesn't affect the opening of the throttle....??

Set it with ognition ON, Engine NOT running.

Did I what?

I like the car running to see what the RPM does. Also to see if any codes pop up. Better they pop up in the shop then when someone is out driving then have to come back. I want my customers coming back for more new work/parts then something that should have been fixed on the first visit.
