Hi Guys,

I have just purchased a Honda Civic AWD off eBay for the tidy sum of $630 - and its in very good condition. Yes even the tyres are new.

The only problem - not running.

The previous owner replaced the timing belt and then could not get it to start.

I have checked cam timing and it seems fine, likewise with distributor and stator and made sure the plug leads are sequenced all ok. There seem to be no blown fuses

So whats left to check:
Coil
Fuel pump
Ignitor
Fuel filters

The reason for asking is that there may be a common cause for this that someone esle has come across.

Question: Does this model come with a ECU of any kind, as its dual carb??

Cheers,
Andrew

So the engine is turning but not starting?

If you are getting spark then I would check the fuel system next.
Carbies dont have an ECU from what ive been told.

ps. AWD Civic? ... interesting.

Hi Guys,

EuroDude - Constant AWD via VLSD on front diff. Yes thats correct - engine turns over just fine but does not fire. Roger with checking spark then fuel.

TL - Wagon actually. Thanks for the info - will this tell me the diagnostic error mesages and if so, how can I get ahold of the listings for the error messages? Also, will the ECU need to be reset to get the engine to run after the timing belt was replaced (seems odd to do this)? How does one reset the ECU?

Thanks again guys,
Andrew

You reset the ECU by removing the 'BACKUP' fuse for 2 minutes (when the car is off).
