View Full Version : Q? JDM Light conversion & Pros and Cons of DC2
Hey how u doing, i am new to this forum. I am planning to buy a Integra Type R DC2. I just want to know how much would it cost to do the whole Front JDM Light conversion instead of the circle lights in the front.
Also i would like to know the pros and cons of the Integra Type R DC2. I just sold my car, which was a Toyota Celica GT4 (ST185). With little i know about it when i bought the car, i only realised that the GT4 is hella expensive to play around with mod and repair wise. So i sold it. And now tryin out the n\a's and VTEC's seems to be the best that i believe and know of compared to the VVTI\VVTLI's, so im goin off turbo's for now. So any opinions would be good.
How Much to do the JDM DC2 Front light conversion?
What are the GOOD things and what are the BAD things about the DC2R?
THANKS >_0

conversion is up to about 2k in parts along mate,
then fitting an painting on top
I dun own an R so sorry on the next questions
but try a search mate i belive both topics have been talked about many times
good luck
Yeah i have looked around and read around. But most are american forums. I tried emailing a couple of people that is in australia that has done em. But they dont reply. So i just thought i might put one up since they wont say nothing. I know a lil about the sourcing of parts and so on. But i dont know where to source. I know alot of 2nd hand parts are shipped to the US from Japan because they have a higher demand. If i go genuine, that would cost a shit load. So i'll probably go for 2nd hand parts, lookin at the more common colours, black or white??. And then probably match up the paint when i get the money saved.
And i also want to know what parts are needed in the conversion, so far from what i read and know i need the JDM bonnet, front bar, head lights, and the JDM radiator support.
But i aint worried at the moment as i dont even have a DC2R. Im just seeing how much it would cost to do. And so on, as i am plannin on buyin one soon...just waiting for a few to pop up for sale.

and fenders :)
Yeah and fenders forgot about that in my list. What are the common colours in the DC2's...BLACK and WHITE??

Red and yellow
(yellow is hardest to find)
I have Type R and all I can tell you is that I am in love with the car, every time I jump into that recaro seat I get some sort of special feeling, as if I am in some sort of race car.
If you get one you will love it for sure.
Bad thing about type R??, so far I didn't find any.
JDM conversion in my opinion is waste of money (unless you have planty or you can do most of work by yourself so it comes out cheap), it's nice and looks cool but if I was you I would first do some engine mods.
Yeah i guess its a waste, it looks awesome. But I want the whole JDM Look with the C-WEST N1 kit for the DC2R...looks sick. Thats the best look i seen on this gen Integra, i havent seen any good lookin kits for the DC2R. I want one that looks nice and neat but not over the limit. If i see an awesome kit that goes well with the circle lights, then i probably wont bother with the JDM front end conversion
Umm i didnt understand what u said...the common colours are Red and Yellow??
Im after a white or a black one...So are they common or uncommon.

I am not sure what you mean by common, but DC2R came only in 4 colours, black, red, white and yellow. I think yellow would be hardest to find, but than you never know your luck.
wherw r u from?

1st of all search.
2nd, "how much does this cost?" threads are not allowed.
just wondering... why arent you do search???
don't get me wrong... but lot of people(include myself) talked about this thread so many times...
also, maybe it is waste of money to do... i did it and put smile on my face when i open my grage everymornig. that makes me feel good all day.
oh, c-west body kit... i bought the c-west front bumper (copy) but i didn,t put on the car. because to me JDM looks enough !! ;) but i agree c-west is best !!!

try doing a search man. There's plenty of information on this forum alone.
Try here for instance. http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15209&page=1&pp=12

YUMMY JDM front with cwest kit
but personally i dun like the N1 kit i like the other one, more sutble :)
As for the colours, i see lots of red type R's hardly ne yellow, and only a few black n white.
Ok, what i meant in common colours is. If u go out and wanna buy a integra typeR, what are the most likely colours u'll come across, here and in probably japan. Because if i was goin to try and source 2nd JDM parts, then i'll buy a common coloured integra and it would be easier to get 2nd JDM parts to do the conversion, rather then buy a rare colour and have look around like crazy to find that colour. Im not gonna buy a rare colour and source 2nd parts from a common colour integra. U feel me??
And yeah i have been doin research, and im not gettin the answers i need thats why i posted up this forum. Like is said in my earlier reply, most i found are done in the US, and they were US prices and US workshop qoutes etc. The ones i found here that are in australia that did this conversion, i asked this dudes but these sad rude dudes dont even bother to reply. And i emailed twice. I tried all the other ones hondatech, club rsx, vtech.net, teamintegra.net, itrca, and itrsport.com. So what are some other hints u can offer me to do other then post this up to get the direct answers to what i want to know. No one else would reply to me.

dude.. the link i posted on the last page FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE had rough pricing on how much the parts cost to do this conversion, and the parts that you need. I think the info on there is pretty detailed enough. If you're questions have not been answered, maybe you should be more specific in what you want to ask. Also reply in that thread instead of creating new ones, so that you dont keep getting flamed about not searching.
If you want common colours, best bet is white. But who said you need to search for a jdm conversion of the same colour? Why don't you just buy it, put it on and get it sprayed?
Yeah i know that was for my convenience, and i like to thank you for that link. And that reply wasnt because i didnt find my answer and all that in that thread, i was just stating why i put up this thread in the first place.
And the who point of me buyin a common colour integra so i can get the jdm conversion the same colour would be easier, plus save a whole heap of money. Man how much it would cost to spray practically the whole front half of ur car. I rather save that extra money for something else, wouldnt you think?? Enough money would be done on the conversion already, i dont wanna pay another say 1500-2g's (i dont really know how much just a rough guess) on a respray.

Well.. an uplifted LS ;)
you do it... and you whack into something accidentally.. it'll cost you heaps more to source out the parts again! =P

I think you'll find that the common colours you find jdm from conversion kits in is white. But honestly, everyone I know who has purchased a jdm front conversion kit has had to respray the parts anyway. . . . so it shouldn't be a weighing factor on which colour to buy...

it'd look crappy anyway, putting fenders on your car that arent colourmatched.
Plus, why bother with the whole JDM thing, that's like 3-4 thousand dollars you could spend on boosting it, and making the car faster than XR8's.

well keep in mind there are some cases where there will be slight panel damage such as scratches etc that may require you to repaint the panels anyway.
Yeah thats tru, im just gettin one the same colour so i dont have to respray it straight away. It may look a lil off, but how much off can it be. The colours i was after was either black or white DC2R. The colour probably wont match exactly, but i dont think it would be off by that much would it??
I sorter dealt with this same thing when i had my GT4, people would want to change the look to look like the limited edition Group A rally edition GT4. And they sourced parts from Japan, the UK and the US. Alot of them matched, but some that did match was only a lil bit off, and u wont really notice it unless u look for it. And u think doin the JDM conversion was expensive, sourcing Group A front bar and bonnet alone is $2500, add on the aluminium support bar thats an extra $500 but hella hard to find cause there was only a certain number made in the world.
I hope it is alot easier with the integra'z. If what people are sayin, fenders, front bar, headlights, bonnet and the radiator support are the big major pieces. Which only works out to be 2-3g's max for parts. I find that hella cheap to do compared to cars i and my friends had played around with
