You normally have a reserve tank of about 5-10 litres.

I am not sure if it is an actual seperate tank or if it is just the bottom of the standard tank though???

Oh, by the way, over 600Km off a tank is rediculously high.

I get around 450 using the entire tank.

I managed 650 in my EG the one week. Of course I was short of money, no air-conditioning (particularly bad in this weather) and driving 10-15 k's under the limit.

mrwillz
02-03-2006, 04:45 PM
yea nugget
it wont move til about 100km ish

Zdster
02-03-2006, 04:46 PM
Thats about right though. It wont move for a while and then will drop a bit.

By the way, when filling up, you shouldnt really ever keep filliing past the first 'click' from the bowser. If you 'overfill' you risk the fuel expanding when it gets hot and flowing back out the spout. Happens on motorcycles a bit as the tank is out in the sun.

mrwillz
02-03-2006, 04:53 PM
i cant wait for the first click
so i save more money

nugget666
02-03-2006, 07:26 PM
so all bowsers will cut out.???

so first click should do it.

ma 05 civic does about 400km on a full tank, its still brand new, but i use the aircon and drive it in an unsafe manner sometimes, LOL, but still how much difference can that make?

i dont think i can push it past 450km, if i drove like a granny without any air con

btw, its a manual too, and i fill it with premium, not that makes a huge difference, but 600km from one tank is heeeeeepz

im getting about 500kms per full tank in my eg only mods i have is an aftermarket air filter & exhaust. but i do mainly freeway driving to school & work, once ONCE i was stupid enough to push it to its limits and i got 550kms b4 it was out of fuel includ. reserve

in my DC2 the fuel light seems to come on when i've got around 12litres left in the tank. I've driven for 80kms before with the fuel light on.....

Really you guys only get 400kms out of a tank of fuel in a civic. I average between 430kms to 500kms out of a tank...

nugget666
07-03-2006, 06:58 PM
i am about 380kms i just bit over 3/4 tank left.

marte
07-03-2006, 07:01 PM
yeah you'll realize you'll get about get heaps of km's out of your first bar and then once it drops to 3/4 the rest of your tank goes really quickly. is that a problem with just me or do u guys get it too?

but u guys gotta realise that EG SOHC VTi particulary this model was made as an economical type of car hence the big kms. !
getting 500kms out of your stock eg is no suprise, dont think too highly of yourself.
now for the EK4 i think 450 is about what you would see if it was stock as a rock running on quality fuels and none to very little canning. an EK4 with a fuel exhaust usually gets down to about 400kms mark before you need to fill again. all depends on high way driving , city driving, traffic , fuel type, driving style, air con, tyre pressure etc...

hard to compare and to say my car does this much unless the cars are identical.

unless ur doing highway driving menzy them kms arent real.
either someones driven ur car or yourself and fogot to reset the kms after filling up or your car is reading incorrectly.
apparently its pretty common for hondas to read incorrectly on the speedo for the civics.

i usually fill up my tank wen ive done about 430km, somtime i try hold off a fill as long as possible cos prices gettin hi agen, and i've managed to go up o 465km

nugget666

err... No

I only drive my car and i only fill it up with food,
and i can assure you this was no mistake cause the lowest i have ever get with a tank is around 500-550 so for me to push it that extra 50 isnt really hard ...

anyways back on topic ... no one has really answer the question as to how many liters you will have when the lights comes on 1st ...?

Zdster
09-03-2006, 10:53 AM
That is still heaps.

The easiest way to answer your question is to figure out the max you get from a tank and subtract roughly 10 litres of fuel. Considering I only get roughly 450, mine tends to come on at 410 or so.

Around 4.5-5L, depending on the calibration of the fuel level sender unit.

One way to find out is to fill the car up to the brim when the light comes on, and deduct the quantity of fuel from the bowser from 47L ( 45L tank+ allow 2L for the filler neck )

The most important thing is the average fuel consumption, not the no of Kms b4 the fuel warning light comes on. My fuel consumption varies from 7.2L/100Km to 8.5L/100Km

I get around 450 using the entire tank.

Is yours a VTi or GLiDoes that include using your reserve tank also? like do you get 450kms before or on the fuel light coming on? or pass this light stage?

Because i reckon i get about the same using the fuel capacity of the full tank!
And i got an EK Vti also!

do eg's have a reserve tank? when does the fuel light come on. below the empty line?

mrwillz

all cars haf reserve.

Breezy
12-03-2006, 11:46 AM
oh, so does the light come on when it starts using the reserve?
