hey guys...
i wanted to clearly state accords come with 2 types of engines(Australian Market)
wanted to show everyone else wat i mean
VTEC SOHC 2.2litre F22b1
107Kw
Non-VTEC SOHC 2.2Litre F22b
104kw
Ken
The non-TEC SOHC is an F22a something, not F22B :)
But yes, 2 different engines in the 5th gen

nah the non-vtec engines r F22B3. my dads got a 5th gen (the last model 5th gen tho, think 96/97).
You sure? I was positive that the non-VTEC was an 'a' engine
Maybe we get some different engines or something
heh always learning something new :D

VTEC rulz my friends..
even tho our VTEC's kick in at 2.5k revs.. i find it useful..
i cop wheel spin round corners with my Auto F22b1 haha its funny
Ken
i think the vtec point is 3.5k, but at 2.5k there is a surge in the torque

That's called an open diff :)
but at 2.5k there is a surge in the torque
Sure thats not just your AC switching off to reduce the load on the engine? I doubt the SOHC VTEC will be engaging at a mere 2.5K.
Nah mate, with or without AC on. The engine comes alive at 2.5k, under that is gutless. The vtec point is about 3.5k i believe and the difference there is less apparent than at 2.5k

3Kw difference?
You gotta be joking...
nope its not a joke, the real benefits should be in fuel economy.
These are economy vtec's, not performance :)
vtec was originally actually developed by Honda in Indy Car for better fuel economy, so the story goes

F22B1 are found in the 5th Gen SOHC VTEC's
F22B3 are found in the 5th Gen SOHC 16 Valve Non VTEC
F22A/F22Ax are Found in Prelude S and the 4th Gen Accords
i.e Accord EXi
Although there are F22A DOHC engines, ive only seen them in local import junk yards...
