I have just a couple of questions for you guys concerning some wheels im looking at. They are speedy lite 7 wheels in gold, 17x7. Bob Jane quoted me a price of $1500 with tyres but im not sure what type, does this sound ok without knowing the sort of tyres? Now my other dilema, if i get these wheels my car will more then likely look like a 4WD, therefore ill have to lower it. Now if i lower it say 1"-2" how much lower will the actual car be to the ground as my exhaust currently sits about 8cm from the ground and i dont really want to go much lower. Anyone have some ideas to help me out, it would be muchly appreciated.

Cheers

Edit: My car is a 1996 Honda Civic Hatch

when you put the wheels on, it should raise your car just a bit, then you can lower it a bit more.

In regards to price it is difficult to say without knowing what tyres they are suggesting. It would be worthwhile looking into what they are offering.

In terms of lowering, as destrukshn said, the 17's will raise the car. If you are unsure about how low you want your car to be, I would suggest getting the wheels first and then look at lowering. Alternatively, you could spend more money and get a set of good quality coilover shocks/springs which offer you adjustable height. Depending on where the wheels sit in regards to the body, you can just adjust the coilovers to the relevant height that you desire .

those wheels are hot.... fit the wheels 1st, then lower it...

y is your exhaust 8cm from the ground now?

Thanks mate, yeah it should look sweet.

I will get the rims first then look into lowering after.

And my exhaust is about 8cm from the ground because of one angle'd big ass cannon, i made the mistake of buying the cannon without knowing the dimensions. Bad mistake, but shit happenens.

i just fitted 17" on my cxi and lowered it 30 mm using lovell sport low springs. The front looks low enough but the rear doesn't. If i lower the rear further, the wheels will rub badly against the guard.

If u r quoted by bob-jane, they're probably fulda exelero tyres ($213/corner fitted balanced)

i got my car lowered today and just picked it up. 2 inches front and 2.25 back on 17's make the car site just ontop of the tyre. For a bit of tuckage prob go 2.5, 3

with lowering you car with 17;s 2inch's will the tyres crub.

and would 30-35mm drop on 17's in a sedan look fairly decent?

im contimplating on geting 16's and super lows. asi think superlwos and 17's will scrub. or just 17's and lows.

2" wont scrub. i got 2.25 on back it misses the guard by about 8mm

even 17s and lows scrub if the road is not even (when turning hard) and when u load up ur car. What you can do though, roll up the guard which is what i'm gonna do and lower it further

When i had my civic coupe i had 16x7 wheels on and lowered it 3.25 inches front and 3.5 in the rear......it scrubbed the plastic fender lining so i took it out and no problems!

Isn't the plastic fender lining there for a reason? Wouldnt it just be bare metal there if you took it out? If stones fling up into it from the tyre, it'll surely dent the fender from the inside out without the plastic guard in place?

o ok so that drop would be about 1.5"

thats about how low i would like my car. would you have any problem on 17's scraping with lows?

and would it give it the lower look with 16's?

As far as I understand it, it is illegal to run a car without the underguard lining.

It is metal on the underside and stops debris and the like from reaching the back of the fender/back of the headlights etc.

Exactly. So it's really a pretty dumb idea to remove the entire plastic piece....

It really depends on the length of the shaft and the bumpstops on top.

I would assume however that the shocks wouldnt lower it any more unless they have groves for lowering and raising.
