its normal. aircon runs off the engine and puts more load on the engine. hence it works harder and produces more exhaust.

I got that too, i guess it's pretty normal. I refer the aircond button on my civic as ON/OFF sport mode ; ) When I put my foot down with aircond on at first, then turn it off, there's a sudden increase in power ; )

ha yeh, its a 1hp shot of nitrous button....

yeh u will lose power wit the aircon on because it takes power from the engine to power the air conditioner..

and as weq said, the exhaust will get louder cos the engine is pumping harder to power the air con..

perfectly normal

Does flicking the air conditioning off and on place any additional stress on the engine?

Yes. I lose power as well wen air con is on. But my exhaust doesn't get any louder than what it currently would be. My revs dont move either,
very normal!!

I wouldnt worry about the engine, i would however be concerned about the electric clutch on the compressor.

I'd suggest not doing it.

actually, u won't get much different after u change the catback on a NA car (comparing with a turbo car) ...
if u r looking for a huge improvment, a good quality header is more important , the engine can rev up a lot faster, more torque and power even in low rpm

he's talking about his aircon making his engine note change and you're talking about the performance a cat back is going to make?
