More Info:

-Still a 2.4 Liter engine with now 170hp
-A real hatch, for the 1st time.
-No more spare wheel attached to the rear door.
-Actually just a bit shorter, about 3 inches.
-But lower (quite a bit) and wider.
-Scheduled for August 2006. Not sure if that is an unveiling or sale date.

It does look similar to the Acura RDX but the dash is different. So yet still unconfirmed but whatever Honda do, it'll be a real treat to see the result. :)

Wynode edit: Took out 'other' pic as it show a bit too much for the front page ;)

Fking Wyn, always raining on my shiet. :) jk

The Stig indeed. Har har har.

Front looks a bit like the BMW X3/X5 and the rear kinda looks like the Nissan Pathfinder. However, it looks kinda shorter in height than the previous ones, and no external spare tyre!

It's the batmobile!!!! Hmm, 170hp engine is sweet. Makes me wonder when will they upgrade the rest of the 2.4L range. :)

I saw a full leather CRV today, it's sweet.

This is the best picture I've seen of the '07 CR-V so far. It is in a current issue of an Aussie motoring magazine.

Note that the rear window is disguised to appear squarer than it really is. If you look carefully, the rear window is alot more rounded and is in stark contrast to the squarish looking rear door. Also note there is no spare wheel mounted on the rear door.

I would be keen to hear your thoughts on how it looks. My opinion? Well, it doesn't look very CRV-ish to me. The 3rd gen looks completely different, whereas the gen 2 was more of an evolution of the gen 1. This gen 3 looks more like something out of Korea. And ground clearance or wheel arch clearance doesn't look very generous either. I question if the gen 3 will have any better off-road capability than the gen 1 and 2 as a result of this. But, it is a development hack after all and I may be made to eat my words upon the final version! We will just have to wait and see.

Really looking forward to this....

I am starting to look for a replacement for the Jazz and have been considering various wagons/SUV/4WDs, from the CR-V to the Forrester and the Pathfinder and the Disco 3.

Have always likde the CR-Vs ever since my dad had a gen1....thoroughly enjoyed it!

That is quite.... fugly...

It's left hand drive though so maybe it's a different model to what we'll actually get. Like the current Odyssey, what we have and what is available in the US is different.

What the hell are you going on about?

Getting out of the small 4wd class and in with the larger ones like the "munaro".

Um you do realize that the two cars you are comparing are like comparing a mountain bike to a scooter??

And i wont even go into trying to run your post through a spell check. :p

Should be a good drive hopefully. Fifth Gear did a review and wasnt too thrilled about the ride though.

From the pics it still looks ugly as but I will reserve judgement till I see it in the flesh as I have soft spot for the CRV having owned an 02 in the past.

Owning and loving our gen 1 CR-V Sport, we were keen to see what the new gen 3 was like. We went thru a new gen 3 CR-V Luxury at the Brisbane Motor Show with a fine tooth comb yesterday.

Didn't get alot of worthy pics but it actually does look a little better in real life than it does in all the photos seen previously on the internet (of US versions). On the whole though we think it is still ugly especially from the front.

The interior is nice and looks luxurious but it just doesn't feel as airy or spacious as our gen 1. Ground clearance is noticably reduced over the gen 1 and 2 so the gen 3 would be pathetic for anything remotely close to "off road". Apparently the gen 3 has gained some weight so the modest increase in engine power from the carry over 2.4 donk probably wouldn't be felt too much over a gen 2. Rear boot door is a huge change over the previous gens...as my wife is short, she wasn't able to reach it while it was open to close it! A huge red cross in her books.. no picnic table either.

An improvement it may be over previous gens in regards to drive, refinement and handling, but having lower ground clearance sucks, the top hinged tailgate could be too high for short ladies to reach (which is why she loves the gen 1/2 side opening tailgate), it just looks weird (especially that front!). I'm afraid we won't be upgrading to a new CR-V anytime soon, if at all. Long live the gen 1s!! Still the best in our opinion.

From that pic, it has dual zone climate which is cool (no pun intended)

no picnic table is no big deal. I used mine once in like 3 years. The new double decker cargo area is great. They had this in the PT Cruiser and I am surprised why no one else did this. You can put your heavy stuff on the floor while putting delicates (fruit etc) on the top shelf so they dont get squashed. You almost double your cargo space this way.

Saw some at the Honda yard this morning. A father and his son were looking over one, I was hard pressed not to wind down the window and tell them not to buy it cause it is too bloody ugly.

The front and the curved back windows are really not working for me.:thumbdwn:

Fair enough.

While I'm not a fan of the current release, I believe this 2007 CRV will look a lot more presentable with a few minor revisions - like the ones kyle contributed above. The overall shape is fairly decent/inoffensive.

i took a harder look at this car the only thing they should have done is remove the grill under the headlights and just have that as a bumper...

I agree there are certain exterior areas which needs adjusting to make it more apprealing. And personally, I don't like the lower grill either, it would look much better without it.

A bit off topic but I came acoss this 2007 Odyssey:

http://automobiles.honda.com/models/model_overview.asp?ModelName=Odyssey

I have no idea if this model will be replacing the current one of not but if it is, I going to buy the current one before they all go!

Hey guys,

We had the drive day for this through the national park.

Its a huge improvement over the previous CRV in my opinion. I'd go far enough as to say that it feels like a Euro when driving.

Although it is copping alot of flack in the media about it no longer being an SUV, and appeals to females, I think Honda are still on a winner.

But time will tell I suppose.

You're right. The country RHINO has turned into a city RAT.
It's funny how market research seems to tell the opposite.
For the new RAV4, Toyota wants to sell it to more males.
And now Honda wants to sell the new CRV to more females!
