how do i know if fuel light is working... should it come on when...

hey everyone..

I just had a thought. when i put my key in and turn it onto the second click. ( when all the accessorie lights come on. the fuel light dosnt show up should it?

my car is on almost E put no fuel light on.

no it will come up wen it is actually on the brink of empty.
i only see only wen i drive. then it will slowly fade away.

LOL it's easy..
get a jerry-can of fuel and drive till:
A. your light comes on or
B. you run out of fuel or
C. both.

this way you know exactly how long you've got once the light comes on before you conk out.

i thought my light didnt work till the other day,
keep driving your car, that light will come on ..

after it passes the E it will then come on ... after that you have almost a bout 60-70k left to drive ... so then its the way to petrol station ... oh and me drive ek1 :p

It comes on just before the reserve tank of fuel we all have in our cars is used. Wich Ek model you got? I got a `96 Vti and mine comes on after about 380 kms from the full original tank!!

I dont have a light but tried to see how low on the guage i could go
i was heeps below the empty mark and new i was going to run out soon
when i filled up i'm pretty shure i put in 51liters but my car only holds 50
