That doesn't make much sense.

In my EG 4dr, there is a small black grommit in the firewall near the brake fluid reservoir/master cylinder. It already has a hole in it. Thats what I used.

It depends on the head unit you have in there.

With my Sony, there were a few clips on either side of the HU (front) which once unclipped the HU and its holder would just slide right out.

Just make sure you run your power cables (including remote cable) and RCA/speaker cables on opposite ends of the cabin.

One day I'll do a DIY article on doing a stereo install in an EG :)

with the power cable running across the firewal to go down the hole wynode talked about is a bit dodgy. But thats how I got it.
run that down the drivers side underneath the carpet into the boot

with the rca run it on the passenger side. I found that to be a bitch to pull under the carpet cos of the rca plugs on them.

You may need special removal pins to pull out the HU.
Otherwise there may be a screw at the back of the HU securing it to a brace.
Remove all the interior panelling around HU to get a better look

are you after a Stereo wiring diagram ?

Im trying to find one for an EK sedan as i plan on putting in my shiny new Pioneer HU tommorrow :)

Will make it alot easier with a stereo wiring diagram.

Links anyone ?

a) Auto Store (eg repco, supercheap, pep's, etc - they can order it in)
or b) a motor book shope. theres one within 5 mins of me. had one in stock for my 89 civic.

Why is it Dodgy?

Dodgy is having the wires go around the door fram/under the car somewhere! LOL

Here's a pic:

PS: Engine bay is A LOT cleaner now ;)

I use the hole (remove the grommet) behind where the battery sits (above where the ECU wiring comes through). Getting through the soundproofing is time consuming though, but it's virtually hidden when you get it right. I've found there's enough room behind the battery to mount a fuse too.

This is on an EK, but I doubt it would be much different on an EG.
