So as some of us know, a t28 turbo is basically a hybrid between a t25 and a t3... t25 hot side, t3 cold side. I'm about to pick up one of these vnt turbos, so definetely want to keep the hot side around, but because it uses a t25 cold side, the power levels are limited. I'll be replacing my t3 for this turbo, and would like to use the cold side of the t3 on the vnt25 to make a vnt28 of sorts. Is it just a matter of replacing the compressor housing and wheel for the t3 parts to make this work, or does modification need to be done to the chra?

where you gettin the VNT from? sounds simple but what sort of curve will it have in the end.....u'll be the first ive seen do it. i dunnknow if it would work to be honest, wheel designs are different so will it sit in the housings?

getting the vnt direct from garrett... brand new unit right off the shelf. Had to pull quite a few strings to find one, but alas, it's been done.
what kind of curve it has is what makes them wonderful. The most wonderful torque curves are to be had with these turbos.
As for if the wheel will fit or not, no, I doubt it will... but that's why you would use the compressor wheel from the t3 to match the compressor housing. It obviously can be done, because there are an awful lot of t28's out there that are nothing more than a t25 hot side and a t3 cold side. The biggest question is if the backing plate will work or not with the t3 compressor housing.

cat wait because i to was/ am tossing around the idea of a vnt hybridish turbo..... the A.R adjustment is an awesome concept .... it just has to be adapted for performance vehicle aplications such as ours.
