I reckon he's ripping you off man. Its just an oil+filter change, it takes like 20 minutes to do - if that.

Mobil 1 (Synthetic) is good oil to use, but its around $50. The filter is around $15.

Get urself a Haynes Maintanence manual and do it yourself

He's ripping you off. You should be able to get it cheaper. I bet he'll use a cheaper synthetic (hydrocracked) rather than the real (polyalphaolefins) synthetics like Mobil1.

And the filter costs $8-10...

Engine oil for the Euro is quite a hot subject in the forums, do a search and it may help you decide on which oil to use...

As for the oil filter and oil change... $120 is too much... DIY it's not hard to do.

If he claims it's $80, ask to see what oil that is.. Has to be synthetic for that price and frankly, you can get bloody good synthetics for less than $80....

If you have friends working as mechanics at the Honda dealers, you can get oil changes for cheap. Otherwise the dealer will charge close to $200. But if you are doing it outside, $120 is TOO MUCH.

And, you can be a mechanic, just learn! I just changed my first set of brake pads this weekend. I'm learning too!

Hummm,

Dont really need to be a mechanic to change oil. Just undo the sump plug and drain old oil. Dont forget to change the Washer!!! and plug it back up and refill with oil of your choice. (i'd personaly use Honda FEO Used it for the first time and never going to anything else) and thats it your done. No rocket science reqired. :D

But yeah Oil changes can be very cheap! have a look below.

Old oil catch bucket (Can be made from Oil Bottles) FREE!
New Oil (Honda's FEO...... Here in VIC) $35.00
New Filter (any will do) $10.00
New Washer (From Honda) $ 0.85
Wrench (If you have one at home) FREE!

TOTAL $45.85

Alot less than what his charging! for somthing that only takes 1hr max to do!
There's a DIY thread on how change oil on here somewhere.
Good luck!

Except that for the Euro, the oil filter is located in a difficult to reach place. And once you get it off, oil drips onto the suspension parts!

Even if you get Motul oil, it's less than $80 for 5 liters. Even if I go the full on luxury way it's less than $120.

Motul oil - Say $80 for 5 liters
Oil filter and washer from Honda - $13 (guess)
Oil pan and funnel from K-Mart - $15 (roughly)
Wrench - free or just one for $5

Total - $113

That's the super royal oil change. Fit for even an ongoing track car. Get Honda's FEO (can't go wrong with this oil) and it'll be $68 assuming the oil is $35.
