hi dont know if anyone has a similar problem or if this is a normal ... two things ... when i leave my car for more than 5/6 hours and start it up ... the my civic takes about 2/3 minutes to drop down to 1K, it initially hangs around 1.4K RPM. Is this normal? probably not... if it aint how hard is it to fix ? or so when i have the air con on ... everytime i drop to neutral it, the idle drops to 250RPM then back to 750 again. wat could be causing this ?

Looks normal to me.

Civic engines hang at 1400/1500rpm when warming up.

AC wil put extra demand on the engine for a second while the ECU corrects the idle back to 750rpm. But 250rpm sounds too low, I'd say its dropping to like 500rpm otherwise the engine would stall if its any lower. Its probably dropping when going into neutral because there is extra demand when the clutch/gearbox is in action despite being in neutral.

[edit] To minimize low idle issues, you can try cleaning out the throttle body and IACV, and clean the air filter, replace the fuel filter etc...

All sounds good to me. My car drops low too but I am not too worried about that. As long as it doesn't stay low you are good.

I also have similar problem... when I turn on the air con, it drops to 250rpm except that it doesn't bounce back up until i switch the air con off... and when i turn on the headlight, the idle drops by around 100rpm too.. does anyone know how to fix it?? would replacing the battery, spark plug wires help??

nah easy to replace.. i'm not saying it's the problem, but it could be the problem.
you can make the cables yourself, i did.
all you do is.. get some cables, probably 1 metre to 1.5 metre of it, of 8 or 4 or 2 gauge cables, put some terminals on em, and replace the old ones.
there are 3 cables, fromt he battery, motor and the gearbox.

I had a similar problem with mine when i turned on the air con, but i got my mate (mechanic) to have a look and he said that the engine isn't compensating enough for the extra drag from the AC and he turned up a screw somewhere and it was fine.
