Hi all,
got a wheel bent out a little and it causes steering shudder at about 80km plus
my question is can alloys be easily bent back into shape..not sure if the can because of how they are made.
Also if anyone has a name of a place who does good re rolling a wheel (ie Straightening) a wheel in general, that would be great too..
Thanks
Adam

are you suire the rim is actually bent ? IF you have say hit a curb or gutter , the toe on that side would of been hit out of whack too - try a wheel alingment first incase you arent sure.
Otherwise if ur rim is stuffed - use our SEARCH feature to have alook around here , or try www.yellowpages.com.au

Yeah the rim is definately bent/stuffed..
i couldnt find any usefull information on here using the search
(tried wheel straightening , wheel re rolling etc) nothing that seemed pertinent to my question hence the post,
I know i can look at the yellow pages as well, but id like to know peoples feedback if any on what/who is good and bad..
finally a wheel alignment etc has been performed which reduced it a little, but not by a lot, which says to me it must be the rim itself..
thanks for the suggestions tho.. much appreciated.. :D

Yeah, they can be fixed up. I got some work done to my rims at a place in Moorabin. I took my wheels there coz I wanted them re-painted + get the lip re-polished. But they put it on a machine and found out that 2 of the wheels were out of align, so they fixed them up as well.
I'll find out the name of the place and get back to you

Out of interest, what did they charge to have the wheel re-finished?

Also, another reason could be that the rim is not perfectily aligned with the centre hub/bore. Initially it might seem fine, but over time, stress on the pins will cause pin misalignment, pin failure and/or potentially rim failure.
