Hi everyone, I am new here... what a cool site... hondas!
I have been reading lots of FAQs and sticky info but still a little lost.
Thinking of getting a integra with a budget of 20K, maybe can still top up slightly. Am at Victoria at the moment, but will be moving to NSW in one or two month's time.
Any recommendation of which model to choose from that is in the budget and what to look out for?? Lots of choices for DC2, but I kinda like the looks of a DC5. I love a stick (manual)... How about features, damages or failing points to check out?
While I love the roar and the performance of the car, I am more in to Audio and SQ.... so I dont mind a B18C with 170/180bhp instead of B18C Spec R with 200bhp, however I am not too sure about the engine specs for the cars here.

Hey, welcome to OH. yes reading the FAQ'S and sticky's are very helpful and got me around the OH website and is very informative. Another tip is to search for information with the search bar. Anyways, a 20k budget, your probably looking at dc2 vtir, but with a lil top up as you mentioned you could get a dc2 type r. probably costs with in the low 20's. Personally with your budget, I would fork out extra few grand to get a dc2r as its an all round perfect car. You got looks, great handling and potential performance, comfortability, a great car to drive. But the only way to know what suits you, is to test drive. I haven't personally got one, but knowing friends that do, and ppl on ozhonda who love their dc2r's, they haven't been disappointed.
Engine specs on all integras = http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6&highlight=engine+specs
With the features, damages, failing points, just search through the integra part of the forum or search bar.

Put another few grand on top of 20k and get yourself a Integra Type R you cant go wrong and you won't regret it.. good luck with your search

What the engine, features and spec for the 2001 auto/manual Integra DC5?
Looking at the used car sites, there are a few of them price below the 30K range, so probably can get them cheaper from private sales.
Also hows the new Type S? S=slow? :D

Type S is the newest version, more luxurious than sport, comes with leather interior, sunroof, etc, etc! I think will be outta your price range of 20K, maybe try doubling it and you'll come close!

the 2001 Model DC5 base Integra has 118kw which is about 160hp
get the manual version if you plan on "racing" it...
compared to the DC2 VTIR with 124kw or around 170HP, this car feels as fast, because of more torque and being a 2.0L it naturally should do so.
the 2.0L i-VTEC engine is more advanced than the B series. The base model has a K20A3, which only has 2 cam lobes on exhaust side as the Type R version (K20A2) has 3 cam lobes on the intake and exhaust side.
for value for money, i would buy a luxury dc5 base model..
the one with leather and sunroof

The only DC2R ive seen under 20k was a CW with busted gear syncro's,
the R's havent sunk that low just yet...in NSW anyway...
i bought my dc2r for 19k without a recaros in it, other than that there were minor dents the exterior.

If you can add a couple of k onto the 20, there are a few nice DC2R's for sale in Vic. Have also been looking around, less where I am though.

All those R's have done over 100k kms. Id be looking for one with under 80,000kms atleast.
I got mine with 38,000k kms on it but I paid heaps more then those ones 3 years ago though.
If i were in the market for a DC2R id still be prepared to pay atleast 27k for unmolsted example with service history and low kms (60-80k kms).

Ok..a friend just bought a DC2R for $16k...

It can be done in QLD
cars are cheaper there, hence why those carsales links above with R's under 20, are from Brisbane..
Regarding NSW, there are no DC2R's under 20 unless there's problems mechanically/asthetically
lol that's just silly
i know houses are more expensive in Syd and Melb for a reason, but why cars?

Really an eye opener for me.... left me wondering how come cars are cheaper in Old too...
Anyway, looking at most coments and postings, I am more leaning towards the luxury DC5 then the DC2R... Let me settle down in NWS an get a couple of test drives first....
For the price, I could also get a new civic....
Civic VTi with 1.8-litre i-VTEC, 5-speed manual-$20, 990, slightly less then 140bhp
Lot less power and fun, but its new and under warranty...
Options, options....

But the engine on the new civic is quite........... weak....
i rather pay another 4-5k for DC5R...
I have seen a new 06 civic with a Integra engine in it, After market of course. I can't remeber if it was an Type R or S. It was K20.... somthing like that. It was the latest big japan car show. One Fast Car. Im sure i would be more than $20,000. Just opening your eyes. Could buy a civic and save up and put a Type R engine in it.

What do you think about hte NRMA Inspection? Is it good or better get a honda mechanic to take a look too?? Any good honda mechanic to recomend??
