wat would it be? Can ppl please give me some help on choosing a engine i am debating about a b16a2 save a couple of grand and do more engine work on ir or getting somethign like a b18c7? Wats a fast engine that would fit in a EG and would be going past 7 - 8 g's. OR say you have 8 grand wat would you do with it but it has to be a engine swap.

I would be putting in a B18c (not type r) and spending the change doing some suspension or engine work.

which b18c's are jap spec is it only the type r and i was thinking of getting a b18c1 and with the rest of the money work with it. Is there a jap b18c1

Jap Sepcs motors dont have numbers after the B18c..
B18c1 equvilant will be a B18c off a SIR/SIR-G (JDM Spe VTIR)

As quangsta said for a little bit more you could try a k20.

I havent heard anyone else talk about a h22a. As far as I understand it would be a cheaper swap, but would produce a fair amount of torque. I havent done much research into it, but this might be another way to go.

hmm for abt 7k u can onli managed a b18c vti-r including labour..

i reckon for a budget of abt 10k, get the jdm type R half-cut cuz it has everything u need for hte conversion. This would include labour of installing depending on ur car if its a EFI or not, extra engine parts to replace from the front cut like clutch and seals and mayb n exhasut system.

there are a few jap importers in sydney with these half-cut... give us a pm and ill let u know where to go

hope this helps

7k and can only manage a b18c vtir with labour..... ok then

With 8k u can get a Jspec b18cR with 5Lug and full exhaust system done. all installed.

clutch = 350

unless you want to go all out stage 10 , 20 button titanium brass gold tiple plate clutch with a uber bling toda blue style spoon flywheel, then yes.

that is true but y not start off with that extra bit of power. more bragging rights while the engine is stock... also for some reason the oz-spec h22a is so much slower than jap spec.. more than half a second, and the stats dont quite match up to make that much of a difference

Hey guys I am planning something similar as well. But I am sure I am not getting a K20. A B18c will do for me. Just not sure about where to go. I know only 1 person who does swaps. So I was wondering if any of you could recommend a few more to me..

how much would a B18cR jap spec front cut cost?

quangsta
25-03-2006, 10:59 AM
this is a rough price for popular engines (front cuts)

k20a ~ 8000
b18cr ~ 5000
b18c ~ 3000
b16a ~ 1500(ls)
~ 3000(eg/ek)

these prices are what there going for on ozhonda so if your serious about engine swapping search around and u'll find almost all honda engines for sale...

edit: does not include labour cost and other expenses such as brakes, fluids, belts, filters etc...IMO should be an extra 2-3k....

The thing is that you need to spend more money ontop of the 1/2 cut price.
The guy seems to want to spend $7k max. So some of those options are out of the price range although they are under $7k for the cut.

That sounds about right. I got a quote for 7500 fitted for a Jap spec B18cR
in Melbourne. If there is anyone else who reckons its a good deal. Maybe we can get it done at the same time and get a better deal..

wouldn't it be useless to get jap spec since our fuel is only 98RON while jap one is 100RON?

gees..everyone is so crazed about the jap spec b18cs!
the aus spec b18c7s are just as good!... 2kws at the wheels can be easily achieved with tuning.

Yep, the K-swap is expensive. People seem to not understand why.
It costs about $8k+ for the half-cut, but thats not it. I notice people think, how can it cost so much more??
Its because there are many other things you need to get it up, running and installed in your car.
Heres just a few of the expensive parts you need with an approx price:

- half cut - $8000
- mounts - $800
- axles - $400
- PNP harness - $200
- ECU - $1500
- complete fuel setup - $900
- clutch line - $100
- headers - $1200 (if you want good headers)
- intake and exhause - ?? maybe $700

Thats near $14000 now, and there will no doubt be a few other things you will need. You would need to upgrade brakes another $2k, and suspension at least another $2k. You may also wanna put in a better cluth in the process of the swap. New fluids aswell. You might wanna get the car tuned once its ready. IMO you would be crazy to have someone do this swap for you also, the labour costs would be a killer. An engineers certificate will be needed once complete aswell.

This quiet easily bumps the price upto the $20k mark IMO. Pleast dont quote my prices, they're just to give an example of how much to expect to pay for this.

Its similar with other swaps like the b/h series also, you would need new fluids, timing belt swapped if the engine is older (i would anyway!), eng. cert and brake upgrade etc.

Just trying to explain that there are a fair few costs outside of the half cut price itself.

Sorry ive gone a bit off topic, hope this helps in some way though.

ask your mechanic to get someone to engineer it for you

Either a local mechanic will be able to organise one for you, or alternatively speak with your local road authority and they should give you details of relevant engineers who provide certificates.
