any reason for this?

You mean the steering wheels gets heavy? It is speed sensitive, so more power assistance at lower speeds and less at high speed. It also has slightly less assistance just off centre.

1. Start the engine, let it idle, and turn the steering wheel from lock-to-lock several times to warm up.

2. Attach a commercially available spring scale to the steering wheel. With the engine idling and the vehicle on a clean, dry floor, pull the scale and read it as soon as the tires begin to turn.

3. If the scale reads no more than 29N (3.0 kgf, 6.6 lbf). If it reads more, check for steering linkage. ie contact dealer

Tyre pressure will affect steering.

the jazz is using the EPS, right.. it could be that the EPS is too slow to react to your steering inputs, or you are swirling the steering too fast, faster than the EPS can assist.

happened to me quite often too, but usually during parking.

im getting the same problem

my eps light is only on for a second when i start the car but rest of the time it is off... usually for parking the steering wheel is very stiff but its fine when the car is in motion.

check your tyre pressure.
IT may be too low giving this feeling in your steering.

The light should come on briefly to test ~
BTW the jazz is known for having strange steering response due to the EPS input.

look on the sidewall of the tyre OR in the doorsil of the front car doors...should have a "XX PSI" rating somewhere. I think my gf's is on about 45psi

That's what it says on the sticker on the side of my drivers side. Unless they've changed it again...

27psi is alittle low - try around 38psi.
