I'm unfortunately on a budget at the moment (a very tight one) and I desperately want / need to service my tegz.

I got a 96 GSI and wondering if anyone knows how hard is it to change the gearbox oil? Will I need a manual or should it be pretty straight forward..

If anyone has any info they can referr me to i'll be forever greatful.

Cheers

i believe Wyn and ben did a Diy for changing tranny fluid..

it wasent wyn *shocked*

note some people fill up the tranny fluid Via the VSS (vehicle speed sensor- i think thats right).. but its quite easy to snap.. so umm be careful with that =P

hope that helps..

Yeah follow that DIY - its pretty easy...

Buy a 17mm crush washer to replace the gearbox drain plug washer. (get em from a Honda dealer)
Buy 2 bottles of Honda tranny fluid/oil
Rig up a home-made funnel (using 1M of hose and a bottom-cut cokebottle and masking tape to seal the neck) so you can refill the oil from above the engine

Jack up the front of the car, support the car with solid stands so u dont crush urself if the jack(s) fail.
Get a 4L catch container and place it under the gearbox.
Remove the filler bolt and drain bolt, drain the oil into the catch container.
Replace the drain plug washer and screw it back in tightly
Lower (level) the car to get an accurate fill level
Rig the hose into the filler plug, poor the fluid in until it starts to seep out
Screw in the filler bolt
