if you can, try and get the OEM ones. (the blue ones, not the green ones)

however, I've often used Ryco filters when I wasn't able to get my hands on an OEM one

Someone said something on here about Ryco filters ( think!)........might have been BLKCRX. Maybe do a search on oil filters and BLKCRX

I use Original OEM Honda Filters made by Toyo Roki Japan. Ryco are good too... I think Z79A is the one for Hondas. Just make sure they have a anti-drain back valve. This keeps oil in the fitler, so when next time you start your car... pressure will build up quicker.

ive heard from many people that basically all aussie oil filters are mde int he same factory/ies and just branded under different names. So if u use Ryco z79a , its teh same as any ford z79a, mistubishi z79a or motorpro or valvoline z79a. Just something to think about.

nah itz inside the filter already... nearly all new filters have this feature...

From Ryco website:

Anti-drainback valves are fitted to stop oil from draining out of the filter when the engine stops. Ensures prompt oil flow when you start your engine, reducing cold start wear.

Are K&N Oil filters any better than say... Ryco or originals??

Isnt Ryco fairly common?? Check at repco stores or the like..

Cheapest place to buy Ryco is Kmart... especially when they have 15% off...

fozze: I dunno about better... itz more of a brand thing and what u prefer... i've used Ryco... no complaints... now using honda OEM ones... cause ive heard good reviews about them. They say the new Honda filters build up pressure faster cause of their smaller size compared to the large one (s2000 model)... but it hasn't really been proven.

I bought an OEM filter (blue one, Toyo Roki) for $15.87 yesterday, and some High Performance FEO oil for $25.55! Didn't think the oil was that cheap for 5L.

The damn drain washer costs 74c.. rip off heh.

Just goto the Honda parts dealer and pick one up.
If you can get a trade discount the oil filter will be $2-3 less.

ok. well from what i know... oil filters are oil filters they are essentially the same between brands.... but.... there's one thing you mite want to note for the type r dc2 cause if u look at the oil filter it is actually smaller than the z79a.... this is to pressurise it better... u should use OEM honda (the blue one) for type r's but for nething else... just use the ryco stuff,.. its cheaper and does the same thing

my mates got this weird tool that wraps around the oil filter, has rubber studs clamping onto the filter, and just twist :D
