How high? Most probably not unless you are doing some serious track work IMO

Anything but a turboed car or Track-only car would be a waste for an external oil cooler - putting one on a stock car would result in the oil turning into lukewarm sludge- and stuffing ur engine !!!

when your oil gets over 120 or 130 degrees then you should seriously look at getting an oil cooler.

there's kits with remote oil relocation kits included, some come with thermostats and such.

if you have raised compression considerably and you car is revving harder, put one on.

the idea of a cooler is to keep oil cooler, this will keep the overall engine temp down. running without a cooler will raise oil and engine temp.

oil cooler is to reduce the wear of ur engine specially if u high rev all the time :D yeah mines got the thermostat which is good :D

Oil coolers are used to keep oil at a safe tempreture so that it doesnt overheat and break down/become ineffective. nothing to do with operating tempretures - thats teh liquid cooling systems problem.

zactly right, also if you add an oil cooler when the car doesnt need one the oil might be operating below its optimal temperature which means it is less effective and operating at a higher pressure

Best to install an oil temp gauge first to see if you need one.
Also oil pressure gauge and water temp gauge is useful.

A while ago I read that with vtec engines, adding an oil cooler could had an adverse effect on the engagement of hi-cam. Don't quote me on this but I think was something to do with the oil pressure reducing as a result of adding the oil cooler. My guess would be to go for one that is not too big.

wow in a real world that soundsd pretty legit but i will leave it to the pros

80% of an engine’s cooling occurs through the oil…
Most engines today come equipped with a water oil heat exchanger to take advantage of this… When it comes to modifying one’s engine to improve performance / power output… Thermal management is everything.
If you are serious about modifying your car in a sensible fashion.
An oil cooler should be high on your list of things to do / get….
Like insurance for your engine...
NB: If you are on a budget, fitting an oil cooler is a particularly smart thing to do...
Wondering if it will fit into your budget is not...
Also, don’t fall into the trap listening to Joe Blogs who’s been running around for years with his turbo, supercharged, nitro breathing space shuttle…
And surprise surprise… He runs no oil cooler…
Why on earth would you need one? Hmmmm
Just go with common sense….
More power = more heat. This is not cool & needs to be dealt with… ;)
