Hey guys...

I did a search for "accord facelift" but nothing useful came up :(

Just wondering if the '97 model accord can have the '98 model lights fitted (they look a lot nicer) - likewise bumper and stuff...

i.e. are they pretty much the same chassis? is there any modification needed etc?

also... what about digital climate control conversion from VTi-S - can they be sourced/put in? not worth worrying about? :p ;)

Thinking about selling my lude and going down the accord route as i need a cheaper car... looking at a few manual 97/98 models this week :)

well as far as I'm concerned, the 98 model is a completely diff shape, on a completely diff chasis and the simple answer is "no". CD accord VS CG accord.

CG from US/Thailland and CD from Japan (anyone confirm?)

Unless, u are thinking of the 94-95, then 96-97 update. then maybe you could facelift.

Also, the 98 CG Accord is much larger than the 97 CD Accord and the base engine gains an extra 100 cc, whilst also offering a 3.0L V6 engine. If ur looking for a cheap runaway, then go the CD

icic, fair enough  i know about the diff engines etc... mrmmm, diff chassis i know too - but the headlights looked very similar :( guess not similar enough!

anyway i'll be test driving one on friday... let's hope she's as smooth as the prelude - not too fussed about power i guess - i'm just after a cruisy kind of car to do me until the end of uni, without sacrificing too much (still want to keep manual, sunroof, pwr windows  ) haha.

do any of the CD owners on here have manual cars, or all auto or what? any things to look out for when i inspect on friday, like common faults?

thanks for the replies guys!

Yep Manual does exist. Just look at a VTi model (sunroof standard). There are surpisingly a good number of manual VTi's on the market.

SiReal,
I dunno where ur gettin the Vti Manuals from cos i cant find shyte... maybe one or two but far too expensive for what it is.

Menthu Rae,
As far as i know, two models are completly different from inside out. The thing that i wanted was the japanese build and quality. Anyways, CD5 (94-97) Japanese Build, CB7 I'm a bit sketchie about this but the first few models are made in the USA, But after that its was Thailand. Anyways thats my side of things. As far as engine is concerned here have a read of this..... I posted this a while back with someone asking on info about the CD5.
As for which model to go for, If your going to a CD5 go for the series II (Minor Cosmetic changes, Rear Tail lights, Front Grill Etc.) because all the bugs would have been ironed out by this model. Either VTi or EXi which ever equipment level your after but with VTi-S is the top of the line model and could cost you a bit, or have High Kms. Power wise, the VTi and VTi-S both have the F22B1 VTEC engine but very little power gain. EXi has the F22B3 Non-VTEC. The VTEC Engine has 107kw At the Flywheel and the Non VTEC has 103kw. Just FYI I've got the non VTEC and Haiz(forum member) got a Teggy VTI-R 1.8lt VTEC, and i kept up with him with no problems. So F22B3 Aint that bad at all.

Which ever way you choose SiReal, is right the cheaper option is for the Cd5 Accord, where you can pick one up for about 7-12K. CB7, are still sitting in the ranges of 14-17K mark. But in the end its up to you which you choose.

Hope that helped.

Cool, thanks for the detailed info Xplodin!

I'm checking out a manual VTi with (very) low kms tomorrow =) I'll see how it all goes... and hopefully sometime soon I'll be cruising around with all you accord drivers... love my lude... but (financially) time for her to go =(

Let's hope the drive/inspection tomorrow proves to be as good as you guys make it sound to be!
