hey i am thinking for getting a gen1 integra for a project car at the end of the year so i am doing all my home work now and i am thinking of putting in a vtec engine in it but to do that it would cost big $$$$ would it be worth it or just spend the money on the D16A3.

I still want good handling so would any engine upgrade going to make life hard due to things like more wight in the frount end and stuff like that. I would like at the end of the day to have about 130kw at the wheels.

If i do a D16A3 engine up to 130kw at the wheels what would the sort of mods need to get it there and a ball park price on it any help would be good on the pro and con's on the D16A3 or any other engine that would be good for the job.

thanks

sorry that i am been a n00b :o

i think a d16a3 could make 130kw atw... just. you could either go all out NA setup or turbo. to get it to that i'd say that the turbo would end up being cheaper. but for that much power you're looking at about 5-10k roughly.

i would get a b18c if i was you, they make roughly 90kw atw stock, so 130 is alot more realistic. and like with most car things, the newer the engine the better it is built and will take more power for longer

no, get a gen 2 integra, not a gen 1

a VTEC engine bolts into a 1990 Integra, but not into a 1986 one...

the extra money you spend on buying a gen2 will be saved by not having to get custom engine mounts for the gen 1 (to fit a VTEC engine)...

and sorry, but a D16a3 would NEVER make 130kW NA at the wheels not even with $10'000

you need a B series engien minimum, a B18C is best...

i was putting out 120kW in my old 1990 integra with a B20VTEC engine, and ran a 13.72 @ 101mph at WSID drag strip...

forget a gen 1 as a project car... it is simply not worth the effort...

this is a place that lists prices,

http://www.redbookasiapacific.com/au/vehicle/prices.php?key=HOND90AF

in my opinion it over estimates the purchase price for private buyers...
