ummm if you get those parts it will "look" like a ek9 but no it won't turn your car into a ek9 :P .... there are quite a few differences...
as ek9 mentioned, the first pic was the 96-98 and the 2nd was 99 + i believe.... depends what model your ek4 is

The second one is a 99+, but he would be doing the 96-98 version as EK4's did not come out in 99-00 I do believe. Unless he wants to get different lights and front bar etc, etc...EK4's gave way to EM1's at that time, no such thing as a '99 VTi-R hatch. Correct me if I'm wrong ppl!!

Indeed you are correct skoota.
To complete the 96-98 to 99-00 front end conversion, you actually require a lot of parts to do. Although it is popular in the states, i would think it's fairly expensive to do.
In all, you require the new front bar, both side fenders, new bonnet and the headlight assemblies for the 99-00 model. i suppose you could source all of this at the wrecker but i do believe that a bit of work needs to be done to get this all to fit onto your own (only a bit i believe..not much...)

Man there are NO differences in the panels on an EK4 to an EK9 to any EK hatchy ( of the same year generation ).

buy the panels and just get the EK9 front lip (spoiler) and the black-housing headlights and you have the same LOOK as the EK9 - but dont bother wasting your money on genuine EK9 panels cause they are no different... that is unless the EK9 panels are bolted onto an EK9 front-cut with B16B hiding under the hood :P

he has asked if it is worthwhile to buy EK9 fenders, hood and bumper..

now you should know this better than anyone, that these 3 items are not different on a type R than a CXi..

he didnt ask about Headlights or lips or the Performance aspect of the conversion..

well it all depends on what extent the damage to the front of the car is and how far he wants to go with the conversion..


yes first of all, the front exterior has the following differences:
poly bumper has no intrusion strips on exterior.
front lip
open grille with no H. (H on bonnet)
headlights are chromed and have no light deflector in them.

inside the engine bay:
well i wont list that because its sight unseen.

thanks VTEChnique - the hood both fenders are damaged and obviously the front. dont get me wrong he wasnt gonna do it just for the hell of it, the car is messed up.
