hi. the "better" one. depends on your budget, your needs, and desires/wants from these coils. have a closer look at what you desire from coils, then research about which ones you should get. dont limit your search to ozhonda only. theres always google.

things yoyu should look for. are spring rates. too hgih. = too stiff = headache everyday. if u want a nice drop. then get springs. if u want to track, then maybe you should invest in more stiffer coils

but remember. TEIN is not always the best. theres alwys cusco/buddyclub/hks etc etc

as for that list that you have .. i would assume that the order is based on stiffness. it seems that the more stiffer suspensions cost more.

My vote - go the SS's. They were jointly developed by Tein and Fulcrum Suspensions specifically for Australian Road conditions....

Is that so? I thought that Fulcrum basically re-sell Tein SS which they personally modify to suit Australian roads?

If your correct, does that mean that the SS which i ordered from Japan are identical to the ones i could've bought from Fulcrum? If so thats awesome :D

HA no longer available superseded by SS.

R series too uncompromising for predominant street use...

Flex and SS similar products... predominant street with a spatter of track work... this would be my suggestion not knowing anything about you, or what you want them for.

Ru$kI: not to burst your bubble but the ones you ordered from japan would be japanese standard....if you were to buy it from an authorised dealer in australia they would be the ones research and designed on and for australian roads...there was suppose to be a price difference of about +300 bux for the aussie standard ones...

Newcivic: as the others have said tien ss and flex would be the way to go they are very similiar in performance...dont quote me buh i 'think' i remember reading somewhere that the main difference is that the flex is compatible with the edfc(electronic damper force controller)...and a a slightly different body design(to accommodate) the option edfc...look around search for other types of coilovers theres a few reviews on ozhonda on different ones...varying from street to track performers...

have fun

I don't drive my car everyday just once or twice a week.. i want some stiff coilovers because i want to go tracking ..

Thanks for that quangster .. i think i would go the Flex .. i heard that the flex is a replacement for the tein HA's ? so does this mean that the flex is better then the ha's ? or what do you guys reckon ..

was wondering which one out of the SS and flex is stiffer and are the height adjustments the same?

also around this price range what other coilovers do you guys recommend me looking at ? ..

thanks for the replies so far guys it's helped out lots :)

look forward to reading more posts!

have a look at the budyclub n+ racing dampners without upper mounts (or watever they called) i just got them and loving it. but it sounds like you would be using it as mainly a track car so go the racing spec or work out a budget and talk to someone who knows what they on about.

good luck and enjoy whatever you get as its an awesome mod to do

are u talking about the difference in aus spec teins and jap spec??...

personally i dont know but i can be pretty certain that theres some sort of difference hence the price difference...2500 is a bit much i remember a trader selling for approx 400 more on top of the normal jap spec teins

for about 1.5k, (tein ss range) theres not many to choose from other than d2 which ive heard of only good reviews...if your serious about tracking theres d2 track version which is slightly stiffer then the street spec ones (pm for a price)....besides those and some other lesser known brands like g4, ktc, hot bits etc....you gotta go up to about 2k range which is where the flex lies or just under anyway...for this price im guessing road spec BC, cusco, BIC, koni, tanabe a few others or if u wonna go just a little higher again u looking at race spec BC, cusco zero 2, hks, zeals, tanabes

im not a suspension pro so yerr if someone says im wrong then im wrong :D
just look around in the traders section even if ur looking at the second hand stuff from japan just to get an idea of price cause u gotta add more for new buh atleast you know how they compare price wise

edit: even ask some ozhonda members personally ive seen a few on here that have gone through 4 or more coilovers even if there not driving civic...dont think it matter much...not saying it wont though :p

good luck

The main differences between these coilovers is the amount of adjustabilty.

Tein HA's by memory were 10 way adjustable, and the Tein RA's were 20 way adjustable.

The main difference between the two is just the RA's have a finer increment adjustment betwen 1-20.

For example on the RA's the range 1-4, would be achieved on the HA's in just 2 adjustments 1-2. Hence the finer adjustments/increments available in the RA's.

The RA's by memory arent dont allow any extra bump and rebound to be dialled in, you just have more control of the setup required for racing or track cars.

Tein basic would be a non adjustable (for height only) coilover.

Hope this helps

I was looking into getting Tein Flex's for ages. I need them for the same purpose as you.. A car which will be driven once or twice a week, probably a weekend driver :) and for track use.

Through my research i found that Tein are one of the cheaper options. They are probably a great product for a lower price. I wanted something a bit better though, thats just the way i am.. lol.

I ended up buying JDMYards cusco zero 2's. I got them used for around the price of a set of tein SS. I cant install them yet, but im sure they will be heaps better than a set of tein ss or flex.

I was also looking into hks hipermax II's, im pretty sure they are similar to the zero 2's.

Tein flex would be the better option of the SS and flex, but they would cost a little more again, around $2k i think.

Lol. So it was you who got the Zero 2's. My mate was gonna get them but when he called they just sold. Oh wells he's getting Tein RA's now. Keep us updated on the performance of the Zero 2's.

sorry to hijack but i dont want to start a new thread and ill be buying my coilovers soon too.
has anyone had experiance with both tein ss and tenabe pro sustec ss coilovers? the spring rates are just a smidge higher (1 unit) in the tenabes. generally which is a better name in coilovers? i would think tein but supprise me by all means. itll be on a daily driver occasionally tracked car.

Got the TEIN HA, Higher spring rate then SS. GREAT for track highly recommend, but nealy to harsh for the road. Right on the borderline of too hard for road. ;)
