Simota Intake for VTiR

i wanted to know if the simota intake for the GSR will fit my VTiR.

SIM-CA5

Waste of money. VTi-R's come with cold air intake standard.

Just upgrade your filter to something that flows better and save ur cash for other stuff.

i dont think mine has it anymore. cause the previous owner made one from pvc pipe that blew onto the pod filter, and it was pushing my front bar out a bit.

What do the stock ones look like?

yeah i hav that part cept without the standard airbox, its got a pod on the end instead.

i wanted to upgrade mainly for looks.

ok, well, the Integra GSR is the Vti-R its just the american terminology. I mean personally its no point to me, but hey, if you like under bonnet bling go for it. BUT Autobarn have K&N on special at the moment. Simota .. well, I dunno dude, its like buying No Name brand. You wonder if they've done any R&D, or just put a sponge on the end of a plastic chrome painted PVC pipe.

the picture is above, but i thought that was just the normal air intake and not the CAI.

So it would b worth looking in to it then?

the vti-r sucks air from the afrea behind where the abs unit resides. it is not a cold air intake.

the pvc pipe up the hole of the stock airbox is actually reasonably effective. Conceptually, it's the same thing as the mega $$ comptech icebox and mugen airbox. I'm yet to see back to back comparisons between them... but provided you get the lengths correct and use a decent filter, you're on a winner.

fwiw, i've been using that type of setup for the last four years with good results.

gingangooly is 100% correct - the air for a DC2 VTiR is sucked from the engine bay.

JINARI - the Type R is slightly different and is real cold air (from under the wheel arch)

Where exactly does it suck air from? i don't have an engine bay in front of my sorry ;) . I thought it sucks from down low behind the front guard, so it would be a type of CAI, not perfect or as good as some, but better than sucking it could be. Obvisouly i am no expert and am just asking the question.

Btw, is there a DIY article on the homemade CAI?

so u need a filter on the end of the CAI, cause the guy who made this when he owned the car did not hav a filter on there. Is it a lot more beneficial to have one?

nah doesnt really need a filter, cuz you'd be filtering twice.

just rig up a cold air feed (PVC, aggi-pipe) to the existing air filter and that will imporve performance over the "hot air intake" setup you currently have...

in terms of sound or feel?

It'll feel much like the OEM setup, just a little more in the way of herbs everywhere, particularly in hot weather.

It will sound a little sportier, though not as loud as a b16 or b18c7 with the same intake setup. You can put that down to a combination of: the design of the intake manifold, head and throttle body bore.

simota is not a great filter, i tested it out on my bro;s vtir prelude and the car barely moves, it just doesent flow as much
