That looks hektic, but its crying out for a "EURO-R" badge on the black mesh ;)

...actually to be honest I really like the stock 06' chrome grill (on black euro's at least). I was hating it when the 06's first came out lol

Chris_F

habe to admit the chrome grows on me everytime i see a black car...

however still think the mugen grill would look heaps better on any colour car then the stock one.

and i think its crying out for a mugen badge.. i think the euroR badge looks weird on anything but the euroR grill my 2c

yeah looks better than the 03-05 mugen grill. I always thought the opening was too big - like a huge fish with its mouth open.

Did you notice the TSX didn't get the new headlights? They look quite smart. In the US the rear lights blink red instead of orange (most cars in the US do this). I have never seen something so stupid - it can be confusing when someone is braking and turning at the same time.

Chris_F
04-04-2006, 11:21 PM
yfin, when i went to the states i noticed that too... its really stupid, why would honda bother making the change? surely it's not illegal to have an orange blinker

as for the 04-05 mugen grill i defintiely think the 06 is a big improvement design/style wise, but i thik it has less character. The 04-05 had something special about it that made it look a bit unique/agressive. - still prefer the euroR grill though :p

its makes the euro look more like current face lifted integra

corn_flakes
06-04-2006, 11:15 AM
haha yeh, the 2006 chrome grill grows on you...

but i think it only looks good with the dark colours...ie. black or graphite

that's why i bought a graphite euro...didn't want black coz it really wasn't 'metallic' and i didn't like that ivory interior...

but yeh, not getting many replies to this thread...what's the go?? i reckon it looks so fcuking hot....or is it because most of you guys are stuck with the pre face lift euros and don't give a crap? lol ;)

EuroDude

Once our Euro's become out of warranty and when the new shape Euro's are released, I think thats when people will be starting to mod them and get interested in new Grills;)

corn_flakes
06-04-2006, 11:36 AM
how can a grill void the warranty though? lol...

but yeh i understand what you mean...

my first 2 mods will be some 18" rims, and the mugen grill...

and maybe an exhaust (not a big fan of them)...i enjoy driving a quiet car, although an exhaust can be fun sometimes....but i don't enjoy the attention it brings, and the fact that ppl will think u're a 'hard c...'

lol, what do u reckon about dropping it though? it'll look better, but i don't know if i'm willing to compromise comfort and ride height over looks....

EuroDude
06-04-2006, 12:09 PM
Yea I'm in the same boat.

At the moment mine is totally stock, but I'm planning on getting 18" wheels. But the problem is that it will make my car higher but I dont want to have the hassles of a low car (speed bumps, towing, driveways, etc..). So I may get adjustable coilovers adn only lower it a bit.

And yeah I like a phatt exhaust sometimes, but other times I want a quiet car. If only they made an exhaust that can toggle between quiet and noisy lol :D

As for the 2006 grill, chrome on black looks freakin sweet but I may get the mugen grill in a few years when I feel like a change.

3 owners of MY06 Euro.. :)

They fill the arches more so it looks better than 16's or 17's.

But I think a 1" or 2" drop would make it look sportier.

corn_flakes
06-04-2006, 01:16 PM
that looks pretty hot man...

maybe it won't need to be lowered...those 18 inches fill those gaps pretty well..

and eurodude, with the grill, it's easy to change back and forth...so it'd be good when u're bored and want a change....

oh, and godamit, can u post more piccys of ur euro with those rims? :D

Boomplustoys in Canada sell the grill for US$240 (unpainted) & US$300 (painted) or you can ask homerrules to buy it for you directly from Japan.

Here's another strange grill:

http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/7470/wider9hw.th.jpg

that's the standard euroR grill without the H badge on :p and it's not matt black paint, it's just the plastic as it comes from the factory

http://img92.imageshack.us/img92/5296/image27tz1.jpg

that's the kenstyle grill and doesn't come seperately it is integrated into the kenstyle bumper which you have to buy as a whole.

http://img124.imageshack.us/img124/4728/grille15fj.th.jpg

that's also not a serperate grill... its a seperate replacement bumper available in japan known as modulo voltage. The OEM kit we get here is called modulo urban.

now you 06ers hurry up and get the mugen grill for your cars! - improves the looks 110%

it doesn't fill out the arches any differently if you drop to the correct profile

yeah, its on 235/40 so its almost the same as stock.

EuroDude
07-04-2006, 09:32 AM
Yea you have a point. Although the bigger Rims give the impression of bigger overall wheels.

But mine are 16" stock, so surely if I get 18"s the wheel diameter would increase yeah?

socheerio
07-04-2006, 10:46 AM
As it reduces the size of the visible grill aperture and current trends are to increase this, it makes it look rather dated. The Lancer comment is on the money.

Chris_F
07-04-2006, 01:44 PM
i prefer the "dated" look - big grills seems like such an american styling trait - what ever happened to subtley styled cars...

don't compare the euro to a VY commodore :(

from certain angles and certain features of the car may appaer slightly similar (i.e. lights and sometimes the grill) but the VY is a shocking attempt at an aesthetic car design:eek: they kept the overal basic body shape/dimensions of the VX and then slappoed some square front lights and triangular rear lights on... now instead of looking fat but smooth the car looks fat and ugly. haha needed to let that out of the system - IMO, even with that grill the lines of the euro still flow very well

EuroDude
07-04-2006, 06:02 PM
To be honest that red Euro's grill looks a little bland.

U reckon it would look good if I chrome it and chuck it on my black Euro?

Chris_F
07-04-2006, 06:34 PM
hahaha nah dont chrome it, kinda defeats the purpose.. i recon it'd look good with a mugen badge sitting in the middle of it.. defintiely give your black euro a sporty as apposed to luxurious look. Granted, you may see the chrome adding interest to the front of the car, i see it as a distraction from the cars "natural" lines :p

EuroDude
07-04-2006, 07:22 PM
hmm I guess its hard to judge unless we have actual pics of a chromed mugen grill installed. How about a Carbon Fiber grill? :D

What I think would look interesting is painting the mugen grill a darker shade of the cars colour, for instance a dark red for that red euro, or a dark gunmetal grey for a black Euro, or a black or silver grill for the gunmetal Euro's

With the grill the exact same colour kindof makes it look like a 1990's car, i.e. a lancer or something.

The Euro needs a "flashy" grill to finalize its overall lines and looks (especially since they have chromed window surrounds and door handles).

Chris_F
07-04-2006, 07:31 PM
chrome lover alert! haha - i defintiely see where your coming from in a style perspective, personalyl i just don't like how the grills are becoming the visual focus of cars these days. I guess thats why i like how the mugen closes the euros grill up a bit.

as for a chromed or carbon fiber grill... you still don't have me convinced haha - i really think a chromed mugen grill would look tacky especially without a honda badge to fill in the gap.

with a dark red grill on a fairly bright red euro.. don't you think THAT would look even dodgier?

Whereas you think the grill finalises the overall lines and looks of the car i think all it does is detract from them. I really liked how the euroR grill transformed my car and gave it a more sporty personality. As for the chrome door handles and door trim... the door handles will stay but i'm tryin to get rid of the chrome window trim for the same reason :p - i wanna see the actual car, not be blinded by the chrome

EuroDude
07-04-2006, 07:50 PM
haha I'm not a chrome lover, but for a black euro the chrome actually suits the car and gives it a classy yet sporty look (like a BMW 3 series for instance). For the other Euro colours, the chrome looks a bit out of place especially on the red one.

A dark red grill on bright red Euro - lol I'm trying to imagine it but who knows, it may actually look good :)

Your car is gunmetal or blue yeah? IMO the Euro-R grill would really suit those two colours.

In other words, different types of grills look better on different colour Euro's.
Red Mugen grill on Red Euro - looks a bit tacky IMO. Maybe a Red Honda Badge in the middle would 'finalize' the front :)

..my 2c..

Chris_F
07-04-2006, 07:59 PM
yep i can completely agree with that post! - black and chrome is definitely classy. In fact black is one of the only colours i dont mind seeing chrome on.

my car is gunmetal

I think red 06 euros look better with the euroR grill too.. it needs that H there or even jus thte mugen badge may be enough, i think any car wiht a gaping grill like that (nothing in the middle) needs some sort of badge to make it look less "ghetto" or tacky and more complete.

Mugen would look good on silver, white, blue and gunmetal i think.

The Mugen looks great, but not exactly what I wanted.

Preferred something less obivious yet still look different to the standard grill. Brought a replacement grill from IS motoring here in Sydney for $200 fitted.

Prefect fit and looks great. Moreover, the boys at IS were a joy to work with.

More details at: www.ismotorracing.com

And no, I don't have any financial connection with them.

I have this order and it is on its way from Japan which also comes from the 06 line up...to be fitted to my 05 Euro.

I had to get it done by ship rather than airfrieght as the shipping would have cost more than the spoiler... When it is fitted I will post some pics. The only problem for now is that I have the OEM spoiler which will mean I will have to get the boot repaired as the wiring for the stop light goes through a hole which will have to be filled.

Or swap boots with someone in exchange for an OEM spoiler? ;)

I could for a fee of course as the original spoiler cost me ...but could be negotiated as long as the car is blue of course.
