Ok, i went down to pedders and got a 28 point safety check for $14. I knew something was wrong cause it always made noises when i went over speed bumps and when i hoped into my car. But dam......here is the things i need to replace & approx. cost:
Front
Sway Bar Bushes-$80
Ball joints-$120
Lower Bushes-$350
Back
Shocks-$450
Lower Bushes- $550
Sway Bar Bushes-80
Total = 1630 (approx)
LIKE DAM

So ok, my questions are
-What are bushes (I know its not a forest under my car LOL).
-If I wanted to do up the handling (If it doesn't cost a arm & a leg), what would I need, how much and would i still have to replace all of the above.
- And I want to lower my car somes inches (cause it looks too high with 17inch rims on), like 1-2inchs, what would I need, how much and would i still have to replace all of the above.

I Know this is such the newbie question but maybe it will help other.

1 word- DAMN

ahaha i reckon u dont need all that stuff done, go to wilkenson suspension and get the same check and see what they come up with coz sometimes they just add on things which dont need changing..

and bushes are little rubber things which are between two joints to keep the metal from rubbing on each other (im 90% sure :))

yeah, thats it.

If i was you i'd go to a more reputable suspension place, because if pedders workmanship is as bad as their products, then you deserve a second opinion.

as for the improved handling, you should get some Tein springs, i have heard their ones for the da9 lower 1.5". then get some Konis... and get some strut bars.

Common problem on our car is worn suspension bushings...

I bought mine on ebay from the US. Cost about $120 for front lca's, uca' and shift stabilizer with shipping.

I then got quoted about $300-400 from pedders to install them.. I actually ended up doing it myself which took me about 12+ hours and was the most annoying job i have ever done!!! DONT DO THEM YURSELF unless u have the experience and access to a press.

they point out anything that is "slightly" worn , giving a false representaion of a cars condition really. Thats what makes the people dish otu the cash i guess. Same thing with ultratune and midas et.
If you are in Sydney , i strongly suggest takign your car to Hannys performance for a 2nd look before handing over the folding stuff.

Thanks for the help guys, god i love this site ;) .I'm going to buy Energy Suspension Hyperflex Kit and dad and I are going to install them. If we fail we'll just get a specialist to do it. After that i'll start saving $$$ again and get prelowered springs, shocks and struct bars. Then who knows what will go wrong with my teg. I think after that everything will be replace. I already have got a 2nd hand gearbox, recon. engine, and 17 rims and new tyres.LOL :D I think that everything. O yeah i haven't done a respray yet.LOL :D

I bought a complete energy bushing kit for around 200~300
I bought a Press for $100

I spent a couple hrs over 4 nights replacing all the bushes myself.
Even torqued all the bolts to the spec.

Quite easily done.

hay i was looking at getting some springs and i can get king springs lowered 30mm for about $200. I know king springs are not the best but i just wanna make my car look better, im not going the the tracks and racing it. Is this deal good? and can i just put these spirngs on the stock shocks? Im look in your direction Freek. I know you got your car lowered 30mm...... :o I think.

stock shocks should be able to take a 30mm drop. But the springs will sag and eventually sit lower than 30mm. investing in some shocks wouldn't hurt, but for a (40mm max) drop i don't think it is a nessecity just yet.

I'm just talking from my experiance, which is from the Pedders in SA at Prospect. Pedders are CRAP!!, sometimes don't even know what they are talking about (depends on the person), they are over priced, and they charged me $$ and gave me the run around. I'd never go there again.

I will get some shocks later on, cause my back ones need replacing...well thats what pedders said.

Dam thats low.......was I off or what. U must bottom out every so often. I was thinking about lowering it 50mm, but wasn't to sure if i would bottom out every time i go over speed bumps or friends drive way. maybe i should lower it 50mm. U can get Teins 2inch low springs from ebay.com for like $120us. Is thats a good deal? :o
