Ok in the matter of 6 weeks i have broken
one LSD unit
one upgraded prelude drive shaft
and one total gearbox smashed gears and housing
I have done less then 1000k's in this time also
my driveline keeps breaking on me
If I option an open diff rather then an limited slip diff is there less chance of breaking things?
is a normal gearbox more reliable then an LSD box?
I have a heavy foot and drive hard i know it all comes down to drving style but shouldnt it last a little longer
Its for a B series motor and I really dont have that much power behind it
I broke my first lsd with a stock single plate clutch and then after that got a button clutch and this was in when I smahsed the whole box

who is installing and maintaining these boxes ? Do you dump it alot i take it ? and do u misshift a fair bit ?!?
Its probably mostly the driver who needs training :) ?
BTW a stock open diff should soak up abit more transfer in one wheel spinning etc and afaik stock open diffs are less prone to wear.

well I accellerate hard all the time and drop it in first a bit
i'm really pushed the car and box to the limits
I needs to tone down my driving aggression a bit
but to help me along what will work better lsd or open?

ive seen u leave a couple of meets , and bud ~ calm down ok. Maybe jumping in your car and flooring it when its cold etc doesnt help at all.
Otherwise benefits of a open diff are its cheaper and under less stress/prone to breakage/wear than a LSD unit

I may option an open diff coz my car will be fo the rd for ages if i try find another lsd...
should i stick to the exedy heavy duty brass button clutch or is that going to do more damage then good?

mayb the clutch is to "heavy" for it hence smashing all the gears.
Try putting in a HD one and see how you go.
Serzly either you have bad luck with gearbox's or you drive ur car way to hard.

That sounds about right. Button clutch + ??? = smashed gearbox. I guess ??? could be releasing the clutch super fast at the wrong rpm or downshifting without revmatching.
To prolong the life of a gearbox, release your clutch slightly slower than you do now. You'll have more wear on the clutch, but at least you can just change that rather than the whole gearbox. Also if you downshift, try to match revs. It will reduce clutch wear and also reduce the driveline shock that can occur.
Get some billet driveshafts (gator/drive shaft shop) and a quaife :)
If u want to abuse it, u will have to run the best gear :)

hahahahaha
youre just running street tyres right? there are instances where running full slicks (or even hi-po semis) on a stock car can ruin the drive shafts but i dont think this is your situation.

Def stay away from the brass button, if you doing lots of hard drops its going to kill your driveline.
Do you smash seconds alot?
As weq said if your going to drive it like a race car your going to need stronger parts, look at upgrading or drive it a bit more responsibly.

I smash every gear pretty much
I'm gonna have to make the car faster so that I dont have to push it so hard to get there
i'm gonna try and control my driving style but that aint gona be easy

i'd hate to be in the car with you mate. not because you're a danger to the public or be standed everytime your car breaks down, but to be known as a friend of that "effing and bleeding tool" who thinks hes the next fernando alonso.

roflol! munch munch eat gear box for lunch

and when you get those, you'll need a stronger box or you'll destroy it nicely :)
Seriously dude, sounds like you arent changing gears properly and its causing undue stress on the driveline. Work on that, its free!
