I know it may not be the smartest thing to do, but i just want a smaller diameter wheel. The stock Type R one is so chunky. its around 37cms!! Can anyone help on installing an after market wheel???

isnt it illegal to have the non airbag steering wheel on a car with airbag stock?

i thought about it once or twice as well but then left it at that.

its not that its not the smartest thing to do, its probably the stupidest thing you could die...apart from maybe disconnect the brakes?

1 - It is illegal
2 - Maybe you underestimate the importance of a good quality ADR approved steering wheel. Understand that if you hit anything front on, or you are hit hard from behind, the thing that connects with your face is the steering wheel. You have the option of hitting a rough cushion, or a piece of metal.
3 - You have one of the nicest steering wheels attached to your car. Normal momo steering wheels go for about $400 new. Yours is worth $800 at least new. THis is not for no reason. It is a good, strong, safe, and SRS Airbag fitted device which may save your life. I know one has saved mine before.

Best of luck with your endeavours, i hope you think about it properly.

okay okay, I think i get people drift here. I've been in acidents too, and know that air bags can save lives. I know its illigal, but isn't most things we want to do to our car illigal?. I know its worth quite a bit, and i'm not questioning how good the stock momo steering wheel is. i just want a smaller diameter wheel for those track days, and ,maybe around town cruising, so I can have a nice feel on the circumferance of the wheel.

In addition, I just bought a boss kit too, and have been planning this for quite a while now. I've done it on none air bag wheels before, but just never did it to an airbag wheel. I'm willing to take the sacrifce of not having an air bag.

I hope u understand ,me a little more, and please, don't think i'm putting down the stock wheel. its a great looking wheel with a Nice feel to it, but its just a little big thats all.

i still think its a stupid idea and you should put up with having a 'type r' wheel.

I want to change before. Where do you buy the boss kit for dc2R? Is it including the wiring for disconnecting the air bag system light? I bought the Honda boss kit and try to fit my ITR and it didn't fit. It is only fit for EG or EK. The hub of DC2 and EK are different. For the installation, it is very easy to take off the ITR steering wheel. Just undo 3 bolts and a few plugs.

Finaly, someone who hasn't infered that i'm an idiot (not smart) and put me down and make me feel crap!!. I'm well aware about the implication about taking my wheel off and putting an after market one on, BUT ITS WHAT I WANT TO DO, and I HAVE MY REASONS (sorry about the caps, just kinda fustrated).

So once again, does any1 know the proccess and know what to do? how to install a BOSS kit on a dc2R and put an after market wheel on. Turning off the air bag too. Please only reply if you can help, or can head me in the right direction, it will be muchly appreciated =)
