No not normal, are you sure that's where the noise comes from? Do you have the reinforcement kit fitted?

i guess it is common to get noises with the whiteline bar, prolly best off re torqing the bolts n nuts just in case
i get noises with my 18mm wen i go on driveways

handles much much beta than the stock 1...i highly recommend this..best for buck mod for handling..i used to go real slow thru roundabouts but now i dnt nid to engine brake or watever...just go thru it and the car body stays in check...u feel in control..and u can take corners at a much higher speed with confidence

What does the sound, sound like? Metal on metal? Creaking?

I would suggest tightening everything down and just make sure everything is tight. You would be suprised that by making sure everything is tight will fix your problem.

duno hw to describe the sound..metal on metal sounds too harsh....e sound doesnt sound as bad as metal on metal..just noises when going over uneven grounds or driveways

You need to check the bolts to make sure they are tight, also grease the bushes...

on my ek1 i had noise problems.
creaking was because the d-bushes were on too tight.
knocking sound was from swaybar hitting lca.
all fixed now and quite as.

tighten the bolts, they have a habit of getting themselves loose on the figure 8s

this is wierd
i still get noises on mine even after tightening
if i were to regrease mine, what grease would u recommend?
i've used nulon xtreme and doesnt seem to help...
its only when i go down my drive way it like creaks and makes all these f**ked up noises... i hate it
might take it off just because of that...

welcome to the club ! (lol)
I have a EG civic with the 20/22mm swaybar and simply saying , it makes alot of noise. After going back to whiteline and looking under and re-lubing , the exact noise has still not been found. All i know is on hard left hand corners the exhaust piping appears to "knock" against the swaybar and on pivoting driveways or speed bumps there is a not-so-nice sharp CLICK from the back.
Not to mention the rear just making iffy metal noises while driving in a straight line.

But there isnt a problem at all in performance or noticeable wear etc...

There are two possibles

- Bushes need to be greased up. You know how you got a little bag....use it ALL on both bushes.

- Swaybar was incorrectly bent and taps against some part of the chassis on twists. Best way to check, jack the car up on both sides, put some bricks under one side of the car (tyre, typically the one in which direction you say the noise comes from when you turn) and then lower it slowly and see if the bar taps the chassis anywhere.

it is very hard to diagnose the problem, easiest way is probably to take the darn thing off and reinstall.

i relubed, retightened various parts of the whiteline sway about 6-7 times, without success. taking the thing off felt alot better, the snapping sounds it made whilst driving was just awful to hear on a daily basis.

whiteline want 57 dollars or so for new d-brackets/saddle things + u bolts & nuts..... mmm... woitek gimme a discount!!

mine doesn't make any noises whatsoever :)

damn u lucky bastard slim!! mines off the car atm.... im guessing the warped mounts have introduced some extra play.... therefore making the noise

guys, check out your d saddle mounts etc, if you have overtightened them too much it can cause it to warp i think. this may be the reason why its making noises constantly, i'll have to get a new set to confirm though.

ur dc2 vtir must be very high
my civic is stock height and if u put ur head under it and bounce the car around i'm pretty sure u'll get hit... unless ur head is like 10cm in diameter... :p

Dunno wether this is any similar to the mazda's but just to let ya all know...

There have been a number of mazda 3 owners with the whiteline sway bars, and the swaybars have actually shifted.. problem has been reported and some whiteline lock kits werent sent out ...

Hope this helps

Put teflon tape (plumber's tape) around the bar where the bushes come into contact. Use lots of grease and make your own locking kit (or buy it from whiteline).

yes i had a rattling noise too when i had my whiteline rear swaybar fitted.

mine was an easy solution.........they installed it up-side-down and it was hitting the exhaust pipe!

went back and told em, so they turned it around.........could be as easy as that?

Trav (egsi) helped install mine on a couple of nights ago. I'm getting similar noises. Not too bad though, I'm not too worried about it - I'll probably get under the car this weekend and check to see everything's tight and lubed, etc.

It's looks like a piece of hose and a clamp that goes over it. I made my own from plastic hosing and a hose clamp (from bunnings). If you don't want to make it, you can order it from whiteline through trav as well.

Remember to retighten the endlinks after 200km. I don't think there is any need to retighten the brackets though.

I'm all for making my own. But what does it do, and where does it go?

I did a search - it this what you're talking about?:

Yup, it goes next to the bushing so that the sway bar does not slide and clunk when it goes back to the original position. On my rear sway, one side of the bushing is slanted while the other side is straight. I put it on the straight side.

ian...

I has the same issue with my sway hittin the exhaust, so we turned it up the otha way, but turns out that IS upside down. don't know how widespread this issue is, but it doesn't di it's job 100% if it's upside down, i ended up having 2 get my pipe bent around!!
