um..if l'm right, there are two ways.
one way is that u have to push ya clutch in all the way to change gears wiithout crunchin, and let go really far bak for the friction point.

and the second is that when ur goin real hard from first to second, u "feel" secopnd gear slippin, that is, ur in second, clutch is out and ur foot is on full throttle, however the rpm drops slowly from say 7000 to 5000 until it catches properly.

i think!! hope this helps
l'm changin mine to a heavy duty this week.

start your car... while your doing around 10km/h put it in 5th and drive off, if the car just revs your clutch is gone! simple!

"one way is that u have to push ya clutch in all the way to change gears wiithout crunchin, and let go really far bak for the friction point. "

This is not a way, i dont think, because the clutch cable (if it uses a cable) can be adjusted for the friction to be close or far away from pushing out the pedal..

A way to test a good or bad clutch is to put it in 4'th gear.. and let it stall..
if it stalls straight after u drop the clutch.. then ur clutch is good, if it takes a while to stall, then ur clutch is worn

Hmmm yea my friction point is pretty far back (DC2), and I just got a clutch put in a month ago.
My clutch was totally worn out before I got it changed, I had to push all the way to change gears, sometimes it wouldn't even let me go into gear.

And maybe the other obvious answer to the question would be if ur car decides to rev without movement when u are accelerating and foot is off clutch

is that normal for a new clutch's friction point to be far back? mines pretty far back, and mechanic has said i can't put it anymore forward. think i need a new one, altho my clutch has passed all those slipping clutch tests.

Does it mean my clutch is dead cos when i move slowly and take my foot of teh clutch and gas it goes a bit faster and moves by itself in reverse and 1st gear....?

Thats right ben. My Eg was a "GL" with carby motor before the conversion, and that was hydrolic ..

If your car is fitted with a hydraulic clutch, your could always check your clutch master cylinder. Honda were able to tell me how much my clutch had worn depending on were the clutch cylinder had adjusted itself to. As the clutch gets worse they also tend to develop a sqeek, and thats why i would recomend you also change your clutch cylinder with the clutch, as they dont tend to like being re-fitted to a new clutch if they have been compisating for a warn one.

ur clutch master is most likely leaking... chek far bak under ur clutch if u see fluids leaking u need a new clutch master, shouldnt be more than $200 supplied and fitted...

just wondering, i was driving on a 80 road and i had it in 5th, after letting go of the acelerate i drove and i put it into 4rth gear i let go of the accelerate and then i could pull it out of 5th without clutching.. does that mean my clutch is gone? :S

yea there so expensive the cheapest quote i got was $550 for a basic cluch... if i get a new cluch it would it improve my car's preformance ?

Where are you getting your quotes from?
I can get OEM clutches from Honda SpareParts for like $300(Plate, Disc and Baring)

$550 for a "basic" clutch? :/ I hope that includes labour. You can get HD exedy clutches for less...

bennjamin

anyway basic labour for a clutch install should be aroudn the $300 mark. The clutch "kit" shoudl be around he $300 mark too. Get some quotes urself and get it done.
