Well that's all fine and dandy, I'll stick with just coating mine like everything else. I'd be worried about a fire or it falling off or whatever else could happen. My $.02USD!!!!

they're pretty common, have been used for a while, and work... don't know how much of an hp difference you'll see though

are these those 'turbo beanies' that alot of them crazy rotaries use???
the claim was to keep engine bay temps lower and turbo more efficient by keeping it in exhaust or something like that.

yes this is true alan. The advantage of a Jacket is that its portable, unlick a cermic coated turbine housing.

yeh it does drop the temp down alot!
ive got one on my wrx, noticed a big difference in temp.

keeping heat in = better gas flow = reason why u get it (and maybe bling as well)

I've heard after driving the car after you park your car you should take off the blanket to help the turbo cool down so that all the oil/water lines can flow properly? etc.

Well is quite possible. unlike a coated exhaust housing, the jacket seems to huge the whole turbo including center section. this could indue pre-mature bearing wear due cooking the oil inside the turbo.

I wouldn't be in a hurry to put my hands near it after a hard run.

I think you'd be better off doing the old chicken trick. Wire a frozen chicken to the manifold and go for a drive. Pull over in about an hour and a half and enjoy freshly baked chicken.
