I have a 99 EK civic (standard ride hight) and at this stage I have a set of 16” on her, now I know I can go 17 x 7 without too many probs.
But what about 18” are they going to scrap and cause problems?
And if I do get them under will I have any problems with sitting it all on a set of king springs super lows?
Thanks all in advance. :)

i had a 2000 Civic coupe EM1, only dropped on standard low king springs with 18x7.5 rims (215/35r18) with no problems - just a slight scrape on the front plastic splash guards, but no major drama.

if you're thinking of goin super lows you may need to roll out your guards.

ps. mine had +38 offset.

15" will give you maximum acceleration. If making recommendations based on performance is being a knob, then I am pretty damn phallic.

When going bigger wheels on a civic, you should NOT go wider than 7.5 inches. This is for legal, safety, insurance and physical reasons. You can go as large as you want (you'll find you'll even have trouble finding a decent set of 18s this wide, as most are made wider), as long as you dont go wider than 7.5 inches. Thats how it is, if anyone wants to argue about it I can explain more.

I have 17s and even those scrape sometimes. Expect at least some scrapage on heavy corners if you're going up in wheel size.

I can not recall anything in my original post about performance.

Thanks all for your help I think I will stick to 17’ at this stage and drop the car down and just see how things go.
Who knows if it’s all good a set of 17’s might come up for sale :p

the wording of your query is vital christmas!
u have to understand that some members have been ere for a long time and have seen threads similar to this one, PLENTY of times.
wat u should actually include in ur original post is whether ur aim for the car is performance or looks, as some "noobs" are exactly that, NOOBS - not knowing that bigger wheels will affect performance.
n e ways, enuf said, 18s can easily go onto an EK without many dramas, plenty have done it successfully.
rolling the guards is all u really need to do :)

for RTA roadworthy compliances i believe 1inch max. wider than standard rim width is acceptable for front wheel drive vehicles in NSW (check RTA).

although, xmas is asking purely whether or not they fit, is it not? i think i provided information based on my personal experience. ;)

legalities and insurance is another question.................

all the best with your final decision xmas!

yep, and the stock width of a civic wheel is 6.5 inches is it not? 6.5 + 1 = 7.5?

Should you expect scarping if your using a 40mm spring there then a 50 - 60mm "superlow"

that is for a set of 17' wheels

The EM1's run a 6 inch wide rim (they are the widest of all civic models 96-00).
