hey guys,

I am in the process of replace my steering rack.. I have removed the old steering rack and now im having trouble sliding it out..
I have read the some articles that i have to remove the sub frame of the car, is there another way to remove the rack?or is this the only way??

I have a civic 94 vti.

any suggestion would be very much helpful.

thanx..

do not remove the sub frame

you have to remove the tie rod ends off the stearing arms, remove both of them,

this will help shorten the length of the rack, also you have to turn the rack to one side ( as if you where full lock ) this again makes it shorter on one side to clear the subframe.

count the turns of the tie rod ends as you remove them, and put them back on in the exact same turns, if not get a front wheel alighnment when your done.

good luck

when you are removing the lines!
the shit goes everywhere. lol

I was thinking it would be easier to drop the subframe using a couple of jacks under it, but if it can slide out the side somewhere then thats great.
