hey guys,

i just put koni yellows in my dc2r with spoon springs. They are heaps solid and have improved handling heaps BUT every little bump i go over it sounds like the shocks are bottoming out, like a thud noise mainly from the front. Is this normal with koni yellows? I am asking this because when i had my crx i chopped the spings on stock shocks and they made the same noise and soon after the shocks died, i dont want this on my konis. Thanks

Did you put the bump stops back in?

That and what are the spring rates and how low are the springs?
Try raising the circlip groove up a level (if they're not already at the highest adjustment) and see how you go :) If the problem keeps happening just repeat until it goes away or if you reach the top and it still happens, then... your spring rates are too soft and too low.
Basically sounds like the shock body is hitting the strut top.

grr.. i didnt pull the pumpstops off the old shocks because there was a stubborn washer that didnt wanna come out so i couldnt get em off without damaging the shock. Will the bumpstop make that much difference?

Im running spoon progressive springs btw.

The bumpstop will "soften" the impact slightly but you'll still encounter the same problem still with the noise happening.

I don't know the specs of Spoon progressive springs sorry :p
