I have noticewd in my EK sedan. That after I got for a drive for a bit.
THe gear stick starts to make soudns when changing gears and in nutural.

It sounds like its catching on somthing and notching passed it.

Any idea what this could be?

And how do you get into the shifter bit.

Dad and i are going to have a look at it this weekend when we change the gear box oil.

Any idea's what it could be before we go venturing.?

Not to sure what it could be. Here is how to get to the top of the shifter (http://www.handa-accessories.com/civic/98civiccd.pdf).

There is one rubber boot, but I think it is removed from inside the cabin (cant really remember though).

My only other contribution is maybe the scynchros are gone (but that is a pure guess). I would PM or wait until ECU-MAN finds this thread as he will point you in the right direction.

the shifter bottom might be snagging somehow on the exhust piping below. Or the shifter bushing is worn etc...

Dads a mechanic so hopefully he will find it. JUst after suggestions before we go hunting.

car only has 46,000kms so dont see how synchros could be buggerd.

booyeah, thats what I was gonna say

last time I saw this it was a short shifter hittng the custome exhaust

if yours is all stock, posibility is your exhaust has been knocked ( from your last rally session ) and pushed upwards.

check it out.

Replace the fluid with some Honda MTF and see how that goes.

Its done low km's but a bad gear crunch could have left metal deposits in the oil.
