Ok guys and girls.

What do you all have to say about the D16a8 and the JDM D15B VTi Engine, Ive got some idea about both but not alot.

Im looking at buying either one so I need a lil help with what is better in all areas: Fuel, Speed, Tourqe etc.

Any help would be great thanks!

the JDM D15B is pretty much same as the local VTi engine SHOC VTEC
the JDM has a tad more power due to the ECU and jap fuel
i recon the DOHC non VTEC engine is the way to go

I have been told something simmiler about the D15b but wasnt sure if it was the same power as the local.
so even with Vtec the zc whoops it...lol

yeah the d16a8 has a bit more torque so its a bit nicer to drive.

both are decent engines though i'd go for the D16A8 for a little more torque.
however, if your planning on any internal mods later such as cam etc.. you may want to think about getting a D16Y1 as parts are much easier to get (can use D16Z6 parts from the states). although there is some compatibility between the D15B and the Z6 i'm not sure how far it extends.
just something to consider as parts, besides usual bolt ons, are a bit hard to find for the D16A8/ZC

Everything above the headgasket is D16 VTEC spec. Factory 7800rpm redline is really nice! The D15B has the same power output(130Hp) has the ZC/D16a8, but makes peak power at 6600rpm.

My GF raced a 1990 CRX with her ED Civic both with similiar mods(intake/exhaust) and weight, she won by 3 car lengths.

I would prefer 1.6L. More torque.

Yeah I would go the D16A8 as well I think the DOHC is allot better than SOHC VTEC.
I have driven both a D16A8 and a SOHC VTEC i prefer the D16A8. Feels allot nicer to drive as well as more power down low. The SOHC VTEC would probably be better on fuel :p

LOL we all want to use less fuel.
But for some weird reason we always use more..Geees i wonder why...lol
