first race that kicks start the euro leg...
the tracks named after Ferrari... n rightly so coz i reckon they'll be back this race...
ambient temp on race day is lookin to be cool (14C).. so tyre heat will be all important.. n we all know how Honda suck at it.. so lets hope they've fixed their out lap 'lack of pace' problem...
also keep an eye out for Toyota...
Maccas n the dirtii Spaniard will be up there ofcourse...

I got 4 day long weekend, which means I stay up and watch F1!
Can't wait, I think Ferrari might be strong here, I hope BMW get a podium too.

I think Toyota might be strong at qualifying... but lack race pace? Hmm. Still want Button to win though. But think old Schuey might take it.

Its amazing how everyone hammers Mark Webber about being "overrated" and "hasn't won a race yet" etc.

Then you look at Jenson Button, had the best chance of winning in 2004 when BAR-Honda finished 2nd in the championship. Had a great car, not much competition.

I know it doesn't have much to do with Imola, but it was on my mind.

That guy nearly slashed Button's head off...

From the replay, it was clearly the guy's fault. The fuel rig was still definitely in the car, and he took the lollipop away....

Was 3rd, and dropped all the way down. Crazy...

Has to happen to Button every race, doesn't it?>

What a stupid race, seriously. Worst race of the season. The camerawork was crap, the commentary was absolutely woeful!!! I couldn't believe how bad the commentary was, maybe they're both short on sleep... they just got everything wrong! The racing was dead boring, there were only about 4 passes in the entire race. And the only excitement came from Ide flipping Albers and Button driving off with half his pit still hanging off the car.

I should've just gone to bed.

Did you read the post-race comments tRipitaka? Button said something along the lines of "The Chief mechanic has lifted the lollypop without a problem a number of times and i'm sure he'll make sure it doesn't happen again"... I guess its hard to tell if there was a little bitterness in his voice or whether it just sounds that way..

Christian Albers was saying that Team Aguri took too much risk and that everyone at the back was very cautious of that team as they always pull moves that no one else would. LOL, Ide is the new Sato! I don't think Sato would have done this shit. Look at the replay, Ide was not squeezed or anything, he just didn't brake and rammed into Albers.....

And bah, I fell asleep halfway during the Button incident... But I did get to watch Alonso stuff up in that corner. Overspeed yo!

At one point where it was M Schuey, Button, Massa and Alonso, the camera showed all 4 of the drivers going through the corner. Schumacher took the perfect line, Button had about a 2 foot gap from the kerb, Massa was abotu the same as Button but Alonso took the entire width and even a bit of the kerb. I would say at that point, Alonso was the fastest of all 4 drivers. But Schumacher is so surgical that he didn't make many mistakes in this race, unlike Alonso who was under pressure to overtake after the final pit stops.

Tipping thread updated and finally Angleblue has scored some points

As for the race, main thing is how Alonso didn't perform to well will behind Michael. He made 2 stupid mistakes which costs him 2 sec.

The whole Button thing is blown out of the water, Montoya would of taken Button anyway. The quicker Honda realize he isn't there hero the better off they are.

McLaren, what the hell are you thinking?
Ron Dennis has always been a wanker in the F1 paddock, but lately you can't understand a thing he is doing. The so called "stratergies" he uses are terrible.
As ITV said "run them a touch lighter and get them up the front", Kimi was stuck behind Webber for how long in that race? Would of been whole first quarter of it.

Overall, it was fantastic that Ferrari won, good to see Montoya on the grid and Webber put in a solid performance.
Will be interesting to see what punishment the FIA give Ide

as for the pit dramas in honda. its just not good enough. they should be as quick and precise as the renault team.

theres always one or two thing isnt there..... something/someone always focks up their strategy..... every race they look promising... startin up the front... but always end up dissapointing...
Rubens... looked so good for the race... but gradually filtered down the order (as has been the case since the start of the season)... its frustrating...

wuz a pretty average GP ... hoping for better things at nurburgring ...

and omg i had a shocker this round...

Thing is looking at the post race lap times, top speed, etc,. HONDA still isn't fast enough. :(

And 3 stops strategy but only getting 2nd and 3rd in Qualifying. Surely that is not a good sign.

Button did a good job certainly but he isn't as fast as he used to drive, I honestly believe just looking at the way he drives. So isn't Raikkonen, the flow just isn't there.
I think they have psychological problems pestering them somewhat, as they aren't taking it to the limit as much as Schuey and Alonso.

Fisichella as usual is slow as.

I'm sure Schuey is dying to have that car. You could literally see the torque of the thing off the line at the start as well as after some tight corners!

I think Ferrari want Schumacher next year.

Ferrari have allegedly offered Michael Schumacher 86.6 million reasons to sign a new contract that will keep him racing for the Italian outfit for a further two seasons.

According to the Bild newspaper, Schumacher currently has the new deal in his possession, which Ferrari are hoping he'll sign - and maybe even as early as next weekend.

The new contract, which runs until the end of 2008, reportedly offers the seven-time World Champion a mind-blowing $86.6 to stay with the Scuderia for a further two years.

Not a bad incentive...

Fisi wasn't slow as, he had the 7th fastest race lap time (albeit a second behing his team mate, but he was heavy on fuel), and his qualifying lap was good enough for 6th if he had made the top 10. Couldn't use the great start of the Renault as he was blocked by two cars straight away, you actually saw him rocket up to them and then lift off. And after that, either stuck in traffic or cruising with a heavy car.

Anyways, i thought it was an ok race, was exciting with Alonso all over schumey why the hell his team pulled him in then I have no idea, as if he could leapfrog schumey in one outlap.

Yeah the button incident was started by the lollipop guy, but personally i would stop if the sign dropped and i actually drove through it, he stopped like 20 metres down the pitlane.

The Fastest Race lap time is infact calculated on the fastest lap of the race... which means inevitably it is on a 'light fuel load'... so Fisichella IS slow.

If Alonso got the fastest lap time (1st) and he consistently is near the top, then Fisichella should have the potential to be up there as well.... ESPECIALLY with the fact that he was running the Spec B higher powered engine in the Imola race, compared to Alonso. 7th fastest race lap time is therefore very slow - considering they have the winning car and is the benchmark.

Oh, I have to say one of the highlights of the race was in the first 20secs... Webber's overtaking of Raikonen... around the outside!! Brilliant move. It totally screwed Kimi, 'cos he couldn't get past again for the entire race, but it was still an awesome pass.
