Sorry guys if its been up before but i searched and couldnt find anything...
i know the itr head has a higher compression, but would i get any kind of gains from puting it onto my vtir b18???

anyone actually done it or knows anything about doing it let me know, im still not sure if it will actualy fit so any help is good
Thanks

whats the point?

just invest the price it would cost to do that into your current engine and you will have more power than itr.

what??? i dont understand what your saying to do...
i was thinking of puting the dc2 itr head onto my dc2 vtir engine, with the higher compression that i would have out of the itr head i wanted to know if the gain would be worth doing

what integral was saying was use the money it would cost to buy the head to modify your current engine.

ie - instead of paying say, 3k (im just throwing up figures) for an ITR head, 3k worth of head work, or 3k worth of internals, or 3k worth of bolt ons + tune
etc etc

I think thats whay they're saying anyway.

this is my point in the thread, sorry if i didnt make it clear

is it worth doing the conversion head, $$$$ compared to gains???

i was looking for personal experiences or sombody who knows anything about it

I understand that. I just wansted to clear up integral's post as you said you didn't understand it.

Personally i wouldn't be confident that what i know about this is all correct, so im not saying anything on the chance of giving you wrong information, especially since you want people with experience =]

if you did do the swap, you would need a new ecu to properly manage the engine and make the most out of it which makes the mod not as bolt on as it looks. Also your standard Intake manifold wont bolt up to the type r head which is more $$$ rite there so to do this mod you would at a bare minimum need

Type r head,
b16 or type r intake manifold or equivalent
aftermarket managment and tune
probably headers and exh to get something worthwile out of it

so really.
the cost you are lookin at of getting these parts seperate you probably wont be too far off getting the standard type r b18c7 engine with factory ecu to bolt onto ur existing drivetrain unless you are getting a mad bargain. I would just look into doing the headwork to your car and maybe a decent set of comparable cams to the itr ones. Maybe CTR cams or toda A's, the latter being the bling bling option.

This is exactly what i was looking for, thank you for your help on this obviously its not worth doing, i will just work my engine instead
thanks BiGang...

the b18c throttle body will not fit either....the compression 'will be less', and yes the i.m wont fit.
you will need small modifications in the engine harness (cant quite remember - may be wrong), vacume lines will have to be modified as the b18c engine runs a dual butterfly vacume control. If you had high compression pistons ie: civic type r, then this would be a great idea.

you should be able to get a type r head for around the 1200 - 1500 mark with cams. Intake manifold about the 200 - 300 mark and a t.b around the 300 - 500 mark.

new head gasket 100 buk, timing belt (best to change here) 100 bucks.

and anything i missed.....like a type r - ecu 300 bucks, or u will run an engine code from the different intake i presume.

Now thats a bit of coin, but a hell of a lot of fun learning and doing it.
I would do the bearings and new pistons if i were to go that far....but here is where it gets all out of control - one thing leads to annother!

type r box would be another choice as it has a close gear ratio make u rev out quicker as it is 4.7 where the normal vtir is 4.4..

yep that is where i now need to head for my car!! long box is better for the motor way though(fuel consumption) i think
