hi
i have a em1 and was just wondering if i lower the rear of my car more than i lower the front, will this affect the handling (improved or decreased)?
i want to do this because the rear is so much more higher than the front.
Cheers.

as long as it's not over extreme it will be fine.

just make it even is fine. or slightly more is ok..
if its extreme... you would loose high speed stability.. creates more trapped air at high speeds..
(on low speed race tracks)
but lowering the back more is better for turnin... but will reduce your traction out of the corner..
all catch 22 really..
take into consideration when you accelerate you car will proabably sit even

drag style!
looks better with the front lower than the back anyways.

as said above under accelleration the front will pivot up and the rear will squat in any car ~ so wouldnt a slightly higher rear than front aide traction in all circumstances ? I wouldnt think there is any dynamic advantage to having the rear of a car significantly lower than the front.

as benjamin said no good for lauches at the strip! to much load transfer to the rear lifts the front which in essence creates more wheel spin...... think.

One advantage would be braking. Slightly less load on the front.

depends how much you lower the rear, if you start lacking play and hit bumpstops, it'll act as a stiffer suspension and in turn cause oversteer.

read about different effects of even the most minute change here:

who cares if its a Nissan site... for those of you who actually know of the guy who wrote that article (Mike Kojima), you'd realise he was a pro Honda tuner who also wrote books before going to Nissan....

Specifically this part:
"Do not lower your car too much! This perhaps is the number one no no. It is a symbol of a true rice-boy (not a racial slur, means all show no go, typical car that has $5000 bucks of wheels and tires, a big 5 inch tip, aero kit, a thumping stereo, vinyl graphics, no springs and not much else). Lowering looks really cool and can make a significant improvement to a cars cornering capability but going too low is detrimental to both handling and even safety. Going too low can cause bumpsteer, where the tie rods and control arms are traveling different arcs resulting in the wheels steering themselves with no steering wheel input. When a car is so low that the suspension bottoms under cornering loads, the end of the car that bottoms first will violently slide out. Super low guys are convinced that they are driving super touring cars but if you take them out on the track they will suck incredibly.
