I've looked around for a comparo on the EG6 and EK4, in particular for how they handle through twisties but haven't found any.

How do each handle thru twisties? Is one any better (lat grip, corner speed, twitchiness) than the other?

EG6 would win the battle IMO but its hard to find EG6

No i believe the ek4 will.
EG body is based on the DC structure. The ek4 has a better chassis design so technically should be better through the corners.

If you watch the Best Motoring's tests of the Type Rs it shows that the ek9(which is identical to the ek4 except for a few braces) is better than the ITR going through corners

tight corners id say the ek but eg has a sligthly longer wheel base im pretty sure so eg would be better on long sweeping turns

but in the end id say eg because i have one :D a bit biased i know

for EK9 i would vote for EK9 too... gotta love that car... but EK4 and EK9 let alone engine .. chassis wise EK9 is alot strnger. not just adding a few strut .... but thats my opinion anyway ... u guys can just ignore me... i m well know to be providing wrong info

EK4.

Otherwise you will see more eg's and no EK's on the Japanese tracks.

Ek9s are on the japanese tracks.

Ek4s only have the same gear ratios as the ek9. Otherwise the ek9 is a totally different car imo.

edit: gotta add though once u start modding the ek4s, then it will definatley beat the eg6.

EG6 has 10ps more than the EK4 and a slightly better turn-in and stuck to the rails a hell of a lot better than the EK4 did - I took a genuine one for a run a few weeks back up Kurrajong lookout way and caned a VTiR hatch that was trying to keep on my tail. Switched cars and the VTiR lost again with me behind the wheel.

Both cars were stock.

eg6 usually has lsd gearbox ... and ek4 doesnt .. lsd helps alot on twisties if u lose traction and more power to ground... eg6 also has slightly more power.

but yeah eg6 compared to ek9 then ek9 wins hands down.

definately. The ek9 is the best civic by far.
imo of course.

Ive owned both and while an EG6 is a little more nimble and easier to throw around then an EK4 in stock form, once you address shocks, springs, bushes, and chassis strengthening an EK will always be quicker even though a little heavier.

As far as front wheel drive chassis go there aint much better and as pointed out earlier thats why there on the tracks instead of EG's.

Where people come unstuck, especially in the states is where they mod the crap out of a gli which doesnt have the same amount or renforcment in the rear and they upgrade to big bars at the back and do a conversion it can tear the rear lca,and sway bar mounts, thats why they build those big billet bars over there.

The shells of the EK4 and 9 are the same but the components such as shocks, springs, bars, and the addition of strut bars are different.

EG looks way better. I dare say it would come down to what rubber they're on. Good tyres on an EG really brings the handling to life. I can only vouch for the EG5, not EG6... but given the choice, I'd go the EG6... 'cos I'm biased.

EG ALL THE WAY!!!

Great little cars... lots of aftermarket parts, parts are interchangeable with DC2's..

if driven in the rain. the ek4 will stand no chance. it will wheelspin and lose traction easily. but the eg6, has a LSD gearbox which helps.

i think ull find is very hard to get a SUBJECTIVE comparison mate.

would anyone actually publish a road(twsity) test of both cars? maybe a test on the track.

but wouldnt the age and milage of the cars affect the handling characteristics?

an older eg with more ks surely would have greater 'wear' suspension components etc.

Every one is going to be biased but proof is in the pudding, bulk of race cars in Japan and world wide in FWD 1.6-2.0 classes are EK's.

eg weighs 1000kg
ek weighs 1100kg

LOL well this thread is very biased.
All eg owners say the Eg and all EK owners say the EK.
Its to be expected but a few good points regarding LSD, suspension and weight have been presented.

went to circuit race last weekend, raining down hard. 1.6litre race, apart from the EK9 who cained, next up was ek4. egs were 2nd last.

EK wins :)

Yea i agree that "this thread is biased either way", you cant really know which is best, the difference is really small if any...

this should be a personal preference in any case...

EG for me :) we should poll it.
